HOLIDAY SPECIAL: Soap stars reveal what they consider to be a perfect Christmas morning

Posted Tuesday, December 14, 2021 10:01:36 AM

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but for daytime stars, that isn't just gingerbread and gumdrops. It's also squealing children, hot coffee, zombie films, "crooner Christmas music," bloody marys, and more!

Bing Crosby always dreamed of a white Christmas, but some daytime stars have much more eccentric holiday wishes...

Soap Central spoke with favorites from The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless to get their take on what makes a perfect Christmas morning. Their answers ranged from picturesque Norman Rockwell family scenes to gory sci-fi film marathons in bed.

It all sounds oh-so holly and jolly, so come along and let the soap stars below get you in the holiday spirit! But don't forget to chime in with your own answer about what makes a perfect Christmas morning; we'd love to know how you typically celebrate the season and which actor's perfect Christmas morning you most identify with, so let us know in the Comments section at the end of the article!

Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks, GH)

"Well, my dream is a cliché, for sure, but my perfect Christmas morning is waking up to a view of a blanket of fresh snow outside, surrounded by my loved ones and my dog, wearing cozy pajamas, and sipping my chai latte in front of a fireplace."

Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair, Y&R)

"Waking my kids up early, as if Santa just left, watching them tear open their presents, and eating breakfast with wrapping paper everywhere! That's Christmas morning to me."

Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher, Y&R; Leo Stark, DAYS)

"Waking up with [my son] Monte, making our way downstairs and seeing all the great loot Santa left. Then we make a big breakfast and go for a hike. When we get home, we then spend countless hours reading instructions, installing batteries, etc."

Alley Mills (Pam Douglas, B&B)

"My perfect Christmas morning would be surrounded by family, lots of squealing children, smells of turkey roasting, and beautiful Christmas music playing. I will, of course, forever feel the hole in that of now missing my best friend and partner Orson in that morning scene, but also I will be so grateful that he left me with such a loving family and friends and a better understanding of gratitude, no matter what surroundings I may find myself in. I honestly would say that that is the key to Christmas: feeling so grateful that I could be grateful completely alone and with very, very little. As Scrooge says at the end of the Christmas Carol 'God bless us, every one!!!!'"

Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore, GH)

"Being at home with my whole family gathered, spending all morning in our pjs, drinking hot chocolate and eating croissants and other delicious Christmas treats while dancing around to Christmas music, opening some presents, and playing board games."

Eric Martsolf (Brady Black, DAYS)

"A perfect Christmas morning is a raging fire, crooner x-mas music throughout [the] house, fresh premium bloody marys, and giant hugs all around."

Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Mitchell, Y&R)

"A Perfect Christmas morning is a snowy, white Christmas, coffee and breakfast in bed followed by opening presents with my family and singing Christmas songs by the fire."

John McCook (Eric Forrester, B&B)

"Christmas morning is always the most fun when there are children -- that's the most fun part, when you get them to resist opening presents until you've eaten something and had some breakfast, and that's fun to keep them away from everything. The anticipation of it is the fun part of it! Now that we're adults, we enjoy the breakfast more -- the meal is quieter, and we take a little more time. There's not so much anxiety or getting it over with so you can hurry and open presents. We're still the same way, but we don't have much running around the house unless grandkids come over... So, it's about having a nice, lovely breakfast and looking forward to whatever is going to be social in that day, if people are coming over for a big meal or if you're going somewhere else. It's nice."

Mark Lawson (ex-Dustin Phillips, GH; ex-Brody Lovett, One Life to Live)

"I'm cheesy and am always striving for the Normal Rockwell Christmas morning. Growing up, my dad would kind of torture us and make us wait until he had made the coffee and had put some Bing Crosby on and got the fireplace going, and then we were allowed to come downstairs. I'm one of four, and each of us had our own wrapping paper, so each of got to see like, 'Oh, those are mine! Those are yours!' So, I try to recreate that for my kids. I'm dying to have an actual white Christmas again like I had when I was growing up; that's kind of been one of those things [I've missed] since I moved to L.A. in 2003."

Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait, GH)

"Being surrounded by my loved ones and my cat, Astro!"

Conner Floyd (Chance Chancellor, Y&R)

"My perfect Christmas morning would be an early one, surrounded by my family, a little snow on the ground, hot coffee and some excellent Christmas music."

Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans, DAYS)

"My family and I have always been in the habit of going to the Mission on Christmas and serving the homeless, so Christmas for us -- and Thanksgiving, as well -- would not start until that was all behind us. So, we never really have a Christmas morning. But what I would love to tell you is I did the Hollywood Christmas parade this year and spent some time with 'Santa Claus.' He goes into children's hospitals and talks to children, but because of the coronavirus, he talks with the children on Skype on an iPad, so they get to see Santa and talk to him and all of that, and because of that peculiarity, the families are able to speak to him first and say, 'He got an A on his math test, and he wants a puppy, but he's not getting one, so see if he'd like a skateboard,' -- or whatever it is -- that allows our Santa to go in and say to that child, 'You aced your math test!' Which is astonishing to children. So, you take away the advantage of him being able to walk into a hospital room and you add the advantage of him really knowing something about that child, and of course, he's got the letter that the child wrote in front of him, and it's magical."

Sydney Mikayla (Trina Robinson, GH)

"My perfect Christmas morning would be with my dog and parents surrounding me and enjoying my dad's giant pancakes. I also love to watch good movies on Christmas."

Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller, GH)

"My perfect Christmas morning is being all alone with my four dogs and one cat, and watching some sci-fi zombie fantasy horror films. They would all sit on the couch with me, and we'd unpack their stockings, and we see what they got me -- which is usually nothing [laughs] -- and I'd make oatmeal or I'd make pancakes. That's what I'd do; that would be my perfect morning. But then I'd have to get up, because I'd spent Christmas night with my brother and his family, which is wonderful. But my Christmas morning is very laid back."

Molly McCook (daughter of B&B's John McCook, actress from Last Man Standing)

"My favorite Christmas mornings are when the fire is roaring, Christmas music or a Christmas movie is playing in the background, and we get to open stockings. I love opening stockings! Sometimes they're filled with some special things, but a lot of the times they are goofy, silly things that fit in there, and I always find it fun to sift through them. Now that I'm an adult, it's interesting -- we're starting new traditions of doing that on our own, so I don't know if this year my husband and I will open our own stockings here before joining my parents or his parents, but I think it's fire, a Christmas movie on in the background, opening a few gifts, and some coffee and croissants of some sort. I'm a breakfast girl, so there has to be some food!"

Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales, Y&R)

"My perfect Christmas morning would start with my girls waking me up (hopefully not too early!) screaming that Santa and the reindeer left crumbs everywhere! Grateful for the Christmas magic and the smiles on all of our faces."

Teresa Castillo (ex-Sabrina Santiago, GH)

"I would love to sleep in -- really, it's just the simple things -- and I would have my cup of coffee in silence, all by myself. Doesn't that sound really good? To be able to actually sit and have my cup of coffee and have it be warm to the last sip! That sounds really good to me."

Christel Khalil (Lily Winters, Y&R)

"A perfect Christmas morning includes Coffee, Christmas music, and board games with the family by the fire"
