The Young and the Restless fans should get ready to say "bonjour" to Abby Newman because Victor's rebellious daughter will soon be on her way back from Paris.
Portrayer Melissa Ordway took to social media to announce that she is wrapping up her maternity leave and is thrilled about the material she'll be working on when she's back on set next week.
"Exciting stuff, guys," she shared via an Instagram story. "Next week I am officially off maternity leave so I will be back filming next week... I'm super-excited!"
Ordway and her hubby, Days of our Lives alum Justin Gaston (ex-Ben Weston), welcomed a baby girl named Sophia in December of last year. As a way to explain Ordway's several-week-long absence from the show, Y&R's writers penned a storyline in which Abby went to work in France. Eager to meet up with the Naked Heiress for a little fromage and wine, Soap Central hopped on a plane to Paris to track her down. We searched many of the city's hot spots -- including the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the Moulin Rouge -- but sadly were not "Triomph"ant in our search for the troublemaking character.
Luckily, it doesn't seem like it will be long until Abby will grace television screens once more -- so we're happy to have fromage and wine back in the States in celebration of her impending reappearance in Genoa City.
As for Ordway, the actress attended a meeting on set at Y&R this week in preparation for her return and reported in her Instagram story that she is thrilled to be reunited with her soap opera family.
"It was so good to see everyone," she gushed. "Abby is baaack!"
One person that Abby will probably not see when she gets back to Genoa City is Scott Grainger. Actor Daniel Hall was written out of the show several weeks back, and a setside source hints that Ordway's return does not mean that Hall will see more airtime.
UPDATE (February 28, 2018): Melissa Ordway will make her on-screen return on March 8.
Are you happy to hear Ordway is returning to Y&R next week? What would you like to see for Abby when she returns to the canvas later this spring? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
