All My Children's Kim Delaney (ex-Jenny Gardner) has been cast as Severide's mother on NBC's Chicago Fire.

All My Children fans who watch NBC's popular series Chicago Fire are about to get a blast from the past: Kim Delaney, famous for her role as Pine Valley's Jenny Gardner, has landed a role on the primetime drama.

According to Deadline, the Philadelphia native has been cast as Jennifer Sheridan, mother of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), who's described as a "warm, scripture-quoting and church-going" woman who at one point "may have partied like it was 1979, but now it looks like she's on the path of the straight and narrow."

Though Jennifer claims she's moved on from the past -- namely from her messy divorce from her ex-husband Benny (Treat Williams) -- it seems old habits die very hard.

Last Thursday's Chicago Fire ended with a cliffhanger in which Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Severide jumped off a building roof amid flames. The dramatic moment is the last fans will see of the show until March 1, when it returns from hiatus after the Olympics.

Delaney shot to fame as AMC's Jenny, who was caught in a star-crossed romance with Laurence Lau's character, Greg Nelson. She played the role from 1981 to 1984 and then went on to primetime fame in shows like Army Wives, L.A. Law, Tour of Duty, CSI: Miami, NYPD Blue, and The O.C..
