Channing Matthew Tatum is an American actor and producer who made his film debut in Coach Carter which was released in 2005. However, it wasn’t until a year later that Tatum got his breakthrough with She’s the Man and Step Up. It was just the start for the actor as he soon earned big-ticket film roles in the GI Joe, Magic Mike, and 21st Jump Street series. He has also received several awards throughout his career, winning three Teen Choice Awards, one Sundance Film Festival Award, and a few others.


Tatum has also thrived on the small screen, making his debut in 2004 on CSI: Miami and he has since had appearances on Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, Lip Sync Battle, and more.

Channing Tatum was born on April 26th, 1960 in Alabama to Kay and Glenn Tatum, and is of Irish, French, and German ancestry. The actor has spoken about his tough time in school because of having dealt with ADD and dyslexia although he revealed he thrived in sports, participating in football, soccer, and more. He eventually graduated from Tampa Catholic High School before enrolling at Glenville State College on a football scholarship before dropping out.


But with no income, Tatum started working odd jobs back home before he decided to begin working as a stripper under a fake name. He eventually used this experience to create Magic Mike and moved to Miami, where he was discovered by a talent scout. That changed things for the American actor as he began modeling and acting in videos and television commercials while also starting his acting career.


His break came in 2006 with Step Up and She’s The Man which propelled Tatum into the spotlight as he earned more and more roles. This includes A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Public Enemies, the GI Joe series, Dear John, and several other films.


Not only that, Tatum also hosted Saturday Night Live as his stardom continued to rise. His role in 21 Jump Street was met with great aplomb alongside his part in Foxcatcher. He has also produced several of his films and started two production companies.
