Actor Jeremy Allen White was born in the United States on February 17, 1991. He portrayed chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in the comedy-drama series The Bear (2022–present) and Phillip "Lip" Gallagher in the comedy-drama series Shameless (2011–2021).


He won two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes for his portrayal of Carmen in "The Bear". In addition, White has starred in movies including Afterschool (2008), Bad Turn Worse (2013), After Everything (2018), The Rental (2020), Fremont (2023), and The Iron Claw (2023), as well as the thriller series Homecoming (2018).

Jeremy Allen White’s Career


In 2006, White landed his first acting roles in the television series Conviction and the movie Beautiful Ohio. He scored his breakthrough role on the Showtime series Shameless in 2011 as Phillip "Lip" Gallagher. In 2018, he also made an appearance in Homecoming.


White was selected for the role of the title character in the Hulu series The Bear in 2022. He portrays Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, a troubled but talented chef from New York who returns to his hometown of Chicago to rescue his late brother's failing restaurant. He and his co-star Ayo Edebiri took training at the Institute of Culinary Education to prepare themselves for the part.

White has earned two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy, two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in "The Bear."


White has been selected to portray Bruce Springsteen in the biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, which Scott Cooper is writing and directing. The movie will follow Springsteen's path to finishing his 1982 record Nebraska, based on Warren Zanes' novel of the same name.
