The American horror series Final Destination comprises two comic books, ten novels, and six movies. It is based on Jeffrey Reddick's unproduced spec script distributed by New Line Cinema, initially created for the television series The X-Files.
The idea behind the movies is that a small group of people manage to avoid certain death when one of them suddenly has a foresight alerting them to a big calamity that is about to happen. After escaping the deaths predicted by the visions, the survivors are then killed one by one in strange incidents brought on by an invisible force that creates complex cause-and-effect chains. They then read omens to escape dying again.
