DreamWorks Animation's British/American media franchise, How to Train Your Dragon, is based in part on British author Cressida Cowell's book series of the same name. The franchise consists of three feature films, five short films, and several television series.


The film series has received wide praise; in addition to the first film's nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Score, all the films have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
