The screenplay is written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. The script is based on 2 marketing executives who get fired from their jobs for ruining a potential opportunity. The story focuses on the chaos they create at a big soccer match after getting drunk. It also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Molly Shannon, Eva De Dominici, Benjamin Bratt, etc.

In October 2024, Apple Original Films announced the sequel of the hit film The Family Plan. Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as Dan Morgan in the film and will also produce it.
