Matthew Scott Porter is an American actor best known for his role as Jason Street on the NBC series Friday Night Lights. Porter made his acting debut in 2004, playing Matthew in the off-Broadway play Altar Boyz. Two years later, he made his small-screen debut, appearing in three different shows, including Ugly Better. Not only that, but the same year, he landed the lead role of Jason Street in Friday Night Lights, which he played from 2006 to 2008.

He has also appeared in The Good Wife, Ultimate Spider-Man, Scorpion, Lucifer, and a number of other television shows over the years. Porter also made his big screen debut in 2007 with Music and Lyrics, and he has since appeared in Speed Racer, Dear John, The To Do List, and several other films.

Scott Porter was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Butch and Patty Porter. However, he grew up in Winter Park, Florida, and even attended Lake Howell High School while playing wide receiver on their football team during his time there. Porter graduated in 1997 and went on to study at the University of Central Florida, where he sang in an a cappella group while also working to earn his degree.

Scott Porter’s father, Butch Porter, was born up in Sioux City and was a drummer in several bands in the 1960s and '70s. He moved to Florida later and was then a drummer on cruise ships as well as for Tom Eglin, an Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. He lives in Florida, as per various reports.

Scott Porter has been married to Kelsey Mayfield Porter since 2013, although the couple have been in a relationship since 2008 when she was studying at the University of Texas. She is a casting director and is best known for casting and producing the reality television show The Taste. She has also worked as a casting director on Katie Lowes’s podcast Katie’s Crib as well.
