The English actor Robert Pattinson featured in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He played the character of Cedric Diggory in the film. The movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix also featured footage of Pattinson.

Cedric Diggory was the son of British wizard Amos Diggory. He was placed in the Hufflepuff House when he enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1989. He played as Seeker and captained the Hufflepuff Quidditch team while he was a prefect. Cedric submitted his name to participate in the Triwizard Tournament in his sixth year.

Cedric was born between September and October of 1977, to Amos Diggory and his wife. He was raised close to the little village of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England. His father loved boasting about him to family, friends, and anybody else who would listen when he was seven years old.

Cedric bought his wand from Ollivanders in Diagon Alley before he started school; the one he chose was twelve and a quarter inches long, made of ash with a unicorn hair core, and was characterized as "pleasantly springy.”

In 1989, he enrolled in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was assigned to the Hufflepuff House. He captained the Hufflepuff Quidditch team while he was a student, playing as a Seeker. Cedric entered the Triwizard Tournament in his sixth year. He was chosen as the Hogwarts Triwizard Champion, along with Harry Potter.

Despite being overshadowed in the media by Harry Potter's entry, Cedric received almost complete support from the students and finished the first two tasks tied with Harry for first place.

Cedric and Harry finished the Third Task together. They both grabbed hold of the Triwizard Cup, which led them to the Little Hangleton graveyard, where Peter Pettigrew used the Killing Curse to kill Cedric at Lord Voldemort's command.

Cedric's echo resurfaced during Priori Incantatem, the subsequent duel between Harry and Voldemort, and assisted Harry's parents' echoes, Bertha Jorkins, and Frank Bryce's, in keeping Voldemort at bay long enough for Harry to flee. He just asked Harry to return his corpse to his parents, and Harry obliged.

When Cedric's body was brought back to the grounds, Harry held on to it until Albus Dumbledore dragged him away. When they realized what had transpired, the people who had gathered for the Third Task burst into tears. Cedric's mother tried to comfort herself by thinking that Cedric had not suffered in death and that he had died after winning the Tournament because she thought the victory would have made him happy. However, Cedric's parents were devastated by the fate that had befallen their son.
