What is the plot of How to Train Your Dragon?

The main plot of the franchise centers on the adventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a teenage Viking (voiced by Jay Baruchel), who is the son of Stoick the Vast, the ruler of the Viking island of Berk. Despite being written off at first as an awkward and underweight misfit, he quickly gains recognition as a fearless dragon expert, with Toothless, a rare Night Fury breed member, serving as his flying ride and best friend.
