How to Train Your Dragon is a 2010 animated action-fantasy movie produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. It is inspired and based on the 2003s published children's book of the same name created by Cressida Cowell. The story is set in the mythical Viking village of Berk, where the protagonist, Hiccup, a young Viking, aspires to become a dragon slayer. However, his life changes when he runs into a rare dragon, Toothless, and learns that dragons are not the enemies his people believed them to be for many years.

Who is Valka in How to Train Your Dragon?

Valka is the long-lost mother of Hiccup and the wife of Stoick the Vast. The character was introduced in the second movie where the story dived deep into Hiccup’s past. It was revealed that shortly after the protagonist was born, Valka (20 years old at the time) was kidnapped and taken away by dragons. After finding no trace of her, Stoick and the villagers of Berk presumed her to be dead, until 2 decades later when she crossed paths with Hiccup, who at the time was on a mission to stop Drago Bludvist, and she reunites with her husband and son.

Valka’s main dragon is known to be a Stormcutter named Cloudjumper, who was the same dragon that 'abducted' her when she was twenty years old. During her time in the lands of the dragon, she befriended the Alpha dragon present there and learned a lot about various dragons. Over the 20 years, Hiccup’s mother became a dragon master and a dragon rider and could be presumed to be much more experienced than her son Hiccup.
