Who are Jon Bernthal’s family members?

Jon Bernthal is a popular American actor, born on September 20, 1976, in Washington, D.C. He studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre School in Russia. He later moved to New York to pursue acting and started his acting career in theatre. Bernthal made his film debut with Mary/Mary in 2002, and in the same year, he also made his TV debut with a minor appearance in the show Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Jon Bernthal is the son of Eric Bernthal and Joan Lurie Bernthal. His father, Eric Bernthal, is a lawyer and used to be the chairman of the Humane Society of the United States. His mother, Joan Lurie Bernthal, has mostly stayed away from the spotlight, but Jon has spoken fondly of his parents and their support throughout his life.

His parents used to take in foster kids, so he grew up with a lot of kids around him. In an interview with The Guardian, he said, “No matter what a kid did when they came in the house, my mom was always able to see a light and stoke the flame of these young kids’ hearts. Everybody basically grew up in my house.” He further talked about his dad's policy and said, “My dad had a no-locked-doors policy. We were burglarised seven times, and he refused to lock the door. Any kid, anybody who was in trouble, you could come to my house. I am so grateful for this family. There are no words to explain the depth of richness of the folks that I grew up with.”

Jon Bernthal has two brothers, Nicholas Bernthal and Thomas Bernthal. Nicholas Bernthal is a doctor and professor who specializes in orthopedic surgery. Jon Bernthal is married to Erin Angle, who is a trauma nurse. Erin Angle is also the niece of wrestling legend Kurt Angle. The couple got married on September 25, 2010, in a private ceremony. Jon and Erin prefer to keep their personal life private. Erin is a nurse, she got her nursing degree in 1998.

The couple first met at a party in 2000 in Washington, D.C., where Jon's friends threw him a welcome-home party. Jon saw Erin there for the first time. In an interview with Men’s Health, he shared about their first meeting. He said, “I came over and was just rudely messing around, and I know this is the corniest thing in the world, but when I actually saw Erin, it was literally like angels were singing. I had never seen anyone so beautiful.”
