The second film of the two-film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel Dune, Dune Part Two was released in 2024. The film is an American epic space opera film that was directed by Denis Villeneuve and starred Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and several others. The movie became the sixth highest-grossing film of 2024 and earned five Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture, with a sequel also in production.

Who plays Paul's sister in Dune Part 2?

While fans and critics alike knew that Paul Atreides’ sister, Alia, was set to make an appearance in Dune: Part 2, nobody had any idea who had been cast as her. Anya Taylor-Joy’s casting was kept a secret until the film’s London premiere. That was because Alia appears as an adult in one of Paul’s visions in the film despite not yet being born.

However, her role is said to be much larger in the future as Alia becomes a key figure in Frank Herbert’s sequels to Dune - Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. This does hint at potential future roles for Taylor-Joy although nothing has been officially confirmed as of January 2025.

Who is Anya Taylor-Joy?

Born on 16th April 1996, Anya Taylor-Joy is a British actress who was born in Miami but raised in both Buenos Aires and London. She left school at the age of 16 to pursue a career as an actress in 2013, earning her breakout role a few years later in 2015 for her role in The Witch. She then made appearances in Spilt and its sequel Glass, as well as Peaky Blinders.

However, she gained international recognition for her portrayal of Emma Woodhouse in Emma and Beth Harmon in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. The latter also earned Taylor-Joy her first Golden Globe win and she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy award as well. Since then, the actress has appeared in several productions including The Menu, The Northman, and more.
