Dune: Prophecy is an American sci-fi show on HBO by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker. It is the prequel of Dune and Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve. It is based on the novel Great Schools of Dune written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It is set 10,000 years before the events of the Dune film series. The story focuses on the lives of two Harkonnen sisters who are a part of the Sisterhood who fight against the forces that threaten the future of humankind.

Travis Fimmel joined the cast of Dune: Prophecy in November 2022. He plays the role of Desmond Hart. His character is portrayed as a charismatic yet mysterious soldier. Fans were excited to see Travis Fimmel’s character in the show, as Desmond Hart is not part of the books. Let’s take a look at his character in the show.

Who is Desmond Hart?

Desmond Hart is a mysterious soldier who arrives at the Emperor's palace on Salusa Secundus stating that he is the only soldier who survived the attack on the desert planet Arrakis. He builds a relationship with Emperor Javicco Corrino by gaining his trust and showcasing his loyalty. He shares important information with him related to politics. He suggests to him that he should take some action, as he is losing his powers over the Imperium.

He becomes an enemy of the Sisterhood as he reveals to the Emperor that forces are growing against him and that the Sisterhood purposely didn’t inform him about it. He expressed his intentions to finish the Sisterhood as he informs the Mother Superior of the Sisterhood, Valya Harkonnen, that the Emperor no longer wants his services. He wants to stop them from taking over the power of the royal throne.

Valya tries to kill him by using her powers to compel him to suicide, but to her suprise, he was immune to it. He plays an important role in adding depth and drama to the storyline. His character is still mysterious to the audience, as there are many things about him that are yet to be revealed.

Who is Travis Fimmel?

Travis Fimmel is an Australian actor, born on July 15, 1979, in Echuca, Victoria, Australia. He is best known for his role as Ragnar Lothbrok in TV show Vikings from 2013 to 2017. He started his career as a model in 2002 by modeling for Calvin Klein for a year. He has appeared in many magazine covers including Esquire, Rogue, Good Weekend, America's TV Guide, Empire, etc. He started his acting career in 2001 by appearing in music videos of ‘Someone to Call My Lover’ by Janet Jackson and ‘I'm Real’ by Jennifer Lopez. He studied acting under Ivana Chubbuck who is the acting coach of Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Jared Leto.

He made his TV debut with the Australian TV show Tarzan in 2003. He has worked in many projects including Restraint (2008), The Beast (2009), Vikings (2013- 2017), Maggie's Plan (2015), Warcraft (2016), Finding Steve McQueen (2019), Dreamland (2019), Raised by Wolves (2020–2022), Black Snow (2023- Present), etc. Currently, he is part of the main cast of the TV show Dune: Prophecy.
