Russian actor Yuri Alexandrovich "Yura" Borisov made his acting debut in the criminal thriller Elena (2011). He later performed in the biopic AK-47 (2020) as Mikhail Kalashnikov, for which he earned a Golden Eagle Award. Furthermore, he appeared in films such as Captain Volkonogov Escaped (2021), The Bull (2019), The Silver Skates (2020), and Compartment No. 6.


He earned nominations for several awards, including the Academy Award, the British Academy Film Award, and the Golden Globe Award, for his global breakout performance in Anora (2024).

Yura Borisov’s early life & career


Borisov was born close to Moscow in Reutov, Moscow Oblast. He received his degree from the Shchepkin Higher Theater School in 2014, and his performance as Alexander Tarasovich Ametistov in the play Zoyka's Apartment earned him the Golden Leaf award in the Best Actor category. In 2010, Borisov began acting in motion pictures and starred in a few TV shows. He worked in the Moscow theatre "Satyricon" from 2013 to 2014.


He was nominated for the 18th Golden Eagle Awards 2020 in the Best Leading Actor category for his role in the 2019 movie The Bull. He also won "Event of the Year" from the magazine "Kinoreporter" in the "Discovery of the Year" category. He also had a small role in the movies Invasion, Union of Salvation, and T-34.


In 2021, he starred in eight feature films, including Silver Skates, an original Netflix production. Borisov also appeared in Compartment No. 6, a Finnish-Russian film directed by Juho Kuosmanen which won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
