British author Ian Fleming created the fictional character James Bond in 1953. Many actors have played the British secret agent used by MI6 under the codename 007, in twenty-seven motion pictures. All but two of the films in the series were produced by Eon Productions, which currently owns the adaptation rights to all of Fleming's Bond novels.

James Bond serves as the main character of the James Bond video game, comic book, movie, and book franchise. Fleming penned two collections of short stories and twelve Bond novels. His two last novels, Octopussy and the Living Daylights (1966) and The Man with the Golden Gun (1965), were released after his death.

The James Bond films have been widely successful, winning several awards including six Oscars, and were nominated for several other categories in different cinematic awards.
