MOMENTS

Portia screaming in frustration after Drew left her office

Sometimes, the level of frustration is so high, all you can do is scream it out of your body. Honestly, this moment felt so relatable, I made a GIF out of it!

Willow & Michael at the hospital

Willow has fully embraced the narrative that Michael is cruel and vindictive and refuses to see herself as anything other than the victim and Michael has clearly hit his saturation point. Thus, their whole interaction at the hospital was contentious with a few moments that were especially intense. The first was when Michael bitingly told Willow, “Check your email. Visitation hearing has been pushed back to October.” She seemed in total shock that defying court orders would have consequences. Another intense moment was when she indignantly said she and Drew were going to be married and Michael told her to prepare not to see her children. Lastly, when Willow protested that her children needed her, she was gobsmacked when Michael said they didn’t - at least, not in her current state.

Katelyn MacMullen and Rory Gibson performances are so raw and impassioned that it makes their scenes seem painfully real and heartbreaking to watch.

Jason spotting Britt at the airport in Paris

We knew this moment was coming, but what will happen next? Will Britt get off the plane? Will Jason buy a ticket to Croatia? Will they stay in Paris and live off of baguettes and cheese for a while? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out!

SCENES

A plague on both your houses

Lucas didn’t exactly wish a plague on the Corinthos and Sidwell houses, but he did go Red Ross on Jason, Sonny, and Sidwell at the church when he took them to task for their fomenting mob war. He let them know that innocent blood would be on their hands if something happened to Marco and more innocent people would be hurt if they didn’t stop the violence. Van Hansis dominated these scenes with his impassioned performance making Lucas’ desperate fear and anger visceral and his outrage completely justified.

Tracy vs. NIna

It was like Nina brought a knife to a gunfight when she thought she could outwit Tracy. Instead, Tracy stunned Nina when she revealed her knowledge of Nina’s “consorting” with Drew and quickly let her know she would be calling the shots. For now, Tracy has the upperhand but, as Nina was leaving, she got that ‘ole crazed-look in her eyes and declared that Tracy messed with the “wrong bitch”. So, who knows what fights lie ahead for these two. Dear GH writers, please give us an epic battle between Tracy and Nina. It could be like the Thrilla in Manila for General Hospital fans!

Liesl is Willow and Nina’s harbinger of truth

Welcome back, Kathleen Gati - you have been missed! Liesl truth-bombed both Willow and Nina at the Crimson office. From grilling Willow about her questionable choices to directly telling Nina, “There is something very wrong with your daughter” and “You don’t have the luxury of living in denial right now”, Liesl held nothing back. With any luck, she will be the weapon needed to finally take Drew down.

Portia’s mea culpa

Yes, a Portia I can really get on board with! A better Portia showed up at Curtis’ office to let him know she had reached her limit with Drew’s latest demand to make Michael look like he was addicted to opioids. Honest, contrite, and fully resolved to deal with the consequences of her actions, she said, “I’m not okay with losing my medical license. I’m not okay with going to jail. And, I would rather die than break Trina’s heart. But, at least, she’ll see that her mother is standing up. At least, she’ll see that her mother refused to be small, you know. I mean, who is Drew Cain anyway? An empty man with a phony smile and a congressional seat? No, he doesn’t get to win.”

Brook Kerr was simply fantastic in these scenes. Through her emotional performance, you could see Portia’s fear melting away as her frustration, anger, and sense of duty coalesced into a steely resolve to diffuse Drew’s power once and for all.

NOTABLES

Robert is thrilled that Sasha and Daisy will be living with him and Holly for a while on General Hospital | Image: ABC

Papa Robert

I do hope Sasha and Daisy return soon, but I love that they went to live with Robert and Holly instead of hiding in some random place by themselves. It was so sweet to see a happy Robert (Tristan Rogers) have an opportunity to bond with his daughter and granddaughter; however, it did crack me up that they didn’t even attempt to explain where Holly was.

Danny and Rocco

I like that they are showing Rocco and Danny acting like typical teenagers. They are two good kids who sometimes make mistakes and are doing the best they can to deal with their crazy life circumstances. Finn Carr and Asher Antonyzyn have done a great job of developing Rocco and Danny into authentic, compelling, and entertaining characters.

Inconvenient Truths

I liked Liesl’s scenes with Rocco and am glad that she gave a fairly balanced description of Britta’s complicated personality to him; however, many inconvenient truths are being left out…It was Liesl's idea for Britt to get pregnant to trap Patrick. It was also her idea to use Lulu & Dante’s embryos and she was the one who actually implanted them into Britt.

Britt also knew the truth about Maxie trying to pass off her baby (Connie/Georgie) as Lulu and Dante’s. Instead of exposing Maxie’s secret, Britt blackmailed her into helping her sabotage Sabrina Santiago’s nursing career so she could have a shot of getting back together with Patrick. At the time, Liesl would have done anything for evil Faison, Britt’s father. She kidnapped Ben/Rocco to take him to Faison on Cassadine Island where she was helping him hold Robin Scorpio-Drake hostage and letting everyone think Robin was dead.

Britt eventually had to admit Dante was the father of her baby, but continued to lie about Lulu being the mother until she finally got caught. After the truth came out, Liesl kidnapped Ben/Rocco again and Dante had to rescue him. Later, Britt also kept Brad’s secret that he was passing off Michael and Nelle’s baby as his and Lucas’.

Slowly, Britt did change for the better by the time we thought she was killed and Liesl has significantly curbed her sociopathic tendencies but, if we’re truth-telling, their change for the better shouldn’t negate their nefarious actions nor the lasting traumatic impact they had on their victims.

Was there a surplus sale on orange clothes at the store? Is there a symbolic meaning? Inquiring minds want to know!

MUSINGS

Living with Emma and Gio is a little more hectic than Anna anticipated on General Hospital | Image: ABC

Emma’s dog treating Anna’s irreplaceable shoe like a chew toy and Gio accidentally taking Anna’s last toaster pastry only to offer it back to her with a bite out of it was probably one of the most realistic life-with-kids moments they’ve shown in a long time.

🎶I will do anything for you, but I won’t do that 🎶 - Apparently Sidwell will do anything to protect Marco unless it involves giving into Sonny.

Adorable baby Daisy grew hair like a Chia Pet on the plane trip to France.

I questioned why the courier wore stilettos with her bikini at the pool but, apparently, it’s quite the trend right now.

Nina should give a TED Talk on how to get away with using poor decisions to make bad situations worse.

Please give Isaiah a story so he doesn’t have to go around listening to everybody’s problems.

Hmmmm, so ever since Lulu woke up, Dante has either been mad at or irritated with her about something, but he seriously expected her to extend grace to Brook Lynn as easily as he did?
