An upcoming major motion picture featuring several major stars may be of note to soap opera fans, as it will also feature daytime alums Max Gail (Mike Corbin, General Hospital) and Zach Roerig (ex-Casey Hughes, As the World Turns; ex-Hunter Atwood, One Life to Live).
Titled The Last Full Measure, the film is based on the true story of U.S. Air Force Pararescueman William H. Pitsenbarger, who died while saving over 60 men in the Vietnam War. Thirty-two years later, Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman (Sebastian Stan) is tasked with investigating a Medal of Honor request for Pitsenbarger made by his best friend and partner on the mission (William Hurt) and his parents (Christopher Plummer and Diane Ladd). Huffman seeks out the testimony of Army veterans who witnessed Pitsenbarger's extraordinary valor, including Takoda (Samuel L. Jackson), Burr (Peter Fonda), and Mott (Ed Harris). But as Huffman learns more about Pitsenbarger's courageous acts, he uncovers a high-level conspiracy behind the decades-long denial of the medal, prompting him to put his own career on the line to seek justice for the fallen airman.
Roerig will play a younger version of Ed Harris' character, while Gail also appears in the film due to hit theaters on Friday, January 24. Check out a trailer for the film below and let us know what you think in the Comments section at the end of the article.
Zach Roerig played the role of ATWT's Casey from 2005 to 2007 before going on to play OLTL's Hunter for a brief period in 2007. After leaving the world of daytime, Roerig took on roles in shows like Friday Night Lights and The Vampire Diaries.
Max Gail rose to fame playing Det. Stan "Wojo" Wojciehowicz in the 1970s sitcom Barney Miller. He joined the cast of GH as Sonny's ailing father in 2018 and won the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work on the soap in 2019.
