More than a week after news of Marcus Coloma's exit from General Hospital, a spokesperson is addressing some of events that led up to and followed the exit.

It's been more than a week since General Hospital fans learned that Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine) would be exiting the show. Now, a spokesperson for Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine) is refuting reports that the actor refused to film his final scenes after being let go from the soap.

Deadline is reporting that a spokesperson for Coloma said that the actor and the ABC soap reached a mutual agreement "'that he should not film the remaining few days of the year' following 'health issues with his recent Covid exposure'" that had kept Coloma out of work on several occasions.

The spokesperson also pushed back against references to Coloma being fired, instead noting that Coloma had inked a three-year contract with General Hospital in 2019 and subsequently fulfilled that contract this year.

"Marcus has been thrilled to bring nearly 300 episodes of the iconic and complicated character of Nikolas back to life," the spokesperson said in a letter addressed to fans.

The spokesperson did not address why Coloma unfollowed all of his General Hospital castmates on social media following his exit from the show.

Coloma previously addressed his exit in an Instagram post, calling his time on the ABC soap "an incredible ride." Coloma also thanked fans for "[t]heir outpouring of love and excitement, week after week."

ABC has yet to address what the future holds for the role of Nikolas Cassadine. Likewise, there is no word yet on the name of the actor that stepped in for what were to have been Coloma's final scenes. Adam Huss has subbed for Coloma on several occasions since 2021.

A show source tells Soap Central that Coloma will last air "at the end of January."
