Gen V Season 2 Episode 7, "Hell Week", packs in major revelations and ends on a suspenseful cliffhanger that sets up next week’s finale. More importantly, we finally get confirmation about the burnt man Cipher has been holding since the very beginning of the series. It was indeed Thomas Godolkin, but there's more to it, like some fans correctly theorized since the season 2 premiere.
The Thomas Godolkin revelation might have huge ramifications for the wider The Boys universe, especially the finale, where he might be a threat to even Homelander and the rest of the Seven.

Gen V Season 2 Episode 7 recap:
The episode opens with Jordan, Annabeth, Emma, Sam, and Zoe Neuman realizing that Marie and Emma have left them again. Before realizing this, Annabeth has a vision that prompts her to run to Jordan. The official logline for Gen V Season 2 episode reads:
"A Reminder from the Office of Student Conduct: God U strictly prohibits hazing. Students should never be called demeaning names, forced to wear humiliating clothes, or treated like any animal. If you see something, say something! No one will call you a narc."
Here are some of the major events in this 41-minute-long Gen V Season 2 episode:
- Annabeth's vision
The episode opens on a rather sinister note as Annabeth has a disturbing vision in which she sees Marie bloodied, injured, and probably dead. While Annabeth can't make heads and tails of the vision, she runs to Jordan and Marie's room to warn the latter, only to find her gone. As she screams for Marie throughout the bunker, Emma, Sam, and Zoe also wake up, and they realize that both Annabeth's elder sister and Cate are gone.
Jordan asks Zoe to inform Stan Edgar about the current situation and request a car. The title pops up, setting up Gen V Season 2 Episode 7.
- Annabeth's backstory revealed
The opening scene of the Gen V Season 1 premiere sees a young Marie accidentally kill her parents in the bathroom when she has her first p*r*od. A young Annabeth witnesses her parents' haunting deaths. However, this episode expands upon the previous Gen V Season 2 episode's revelation that Annabeth has some mild precognitive abilities.
Until now, we were under the impression that Marie was the first to get her powers. However, we learn that Annabeth was having a vision of her parents dying before it happened. This adds an intriguing new layer to her character.
- Cate tries to convince Marie to heal her
Cate's plotline in Gen V Season 2 seems to be about her trying to gain her powers after Jordan attacked her in the premiere episode. While her relationship with Marie, Jordan, and Emma is initially frosty, it improves from the fourth episode as they become allies. However, that doesn't mean that all is well, as Marie is still skeptical about Cate.
Both Cate and Polarity try to convince her to heal the former. Marie briefly considers healing Cate at the beginning of the third act.
- Marie gets ready to confront Cipher
They learn that Cipher is holed up in the training room along with the burnt man in the basement below it. As she, Cate, and Polirity are about to enter the building, Jordan, Annabeth, Sam, Greg, and Emma try and stop her. Annabeth tells Marie about the vision at the beginning of the episode, and tells her that she had visions of their parents' deaths.
However, Marie tells them that she has to go inside to heal the burnt man she believes to be Godolkin. She uses her power on Annabeth, Sam, Greg, Jordan, and Emma, and asks Cate if she healed her, would she order them to go away? But Polarity instructs to stop, which she does.
Then, Polarity enters the training room along with Marie, who goes to the basement. The Magnetic supe is joined by Jordan, Greg, Sam, Cate, Emma, and Annabeth. Cate, Annabeth, and Emma head to the basement to stop her while the others prepare to battle Cipher. Initially, Cipher is coming out on top, using his powers to control Sam, Greg, and Jordan. However, Marie heals the burnt man after confirming that he is Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater).
After he is healed, we are given the full picture of his plan.
- Doug Brightbill
Turns out, Hamish Linklater's Cipher is not a real man; instead, he was a human vessel for the real Thomas Godolkin. Many fans did theorize the same since the very beginning of the premiere, but Gen V Season 2 Episode 7 finally confirmed it. While Marie rightly pointed out that "Cipher" was just a human, it turns out he was just a husk who was freed of the mind control only when Godolkin gained his body.
Meanwhile, a fully healed Godolkin comes across the double of one of the "weaker" supes, Hemple, and puppets him to unalive himself as he walks towards the campus, and the episode comes to a close.
The seventh episode of Gen V Season 2 is currently available to stream on Prime Video.
