Report: Eileen Davidson paid $750K to join Real Housewives

The upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will have a decidedly soapier than usual vibe. Though not officially confirmed, a published report says Eileen Davidson has joined the cast.

Hot on the heels of the news that soap-turned-reality-star Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed, Days of our Lives) has been added to the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills comes word that a second soap fave will be joining the fray -- for a record-setting figure.

Emmy winner Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott, The Young and the Restless; Kristen DiMera, Days of our Lives) will join the cast of the hit Bravo reality series when it begins production on its fifth season later this year, according to People.

The magazine reports that Davidson and Rinna "will take the place of former housewives Carlton Gebbia and Joyce Giraud."

A report from Radar states that Davidson will be paid $750,000 to be part of the Housewives cast, and that's a record for a new cast member. By comparison, Nene Leakes, from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, reportedly earns about $1 million.

Eileen Davidson has had a remarkable career in daytime. She got her start in daytime as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless in 1982. She had the opportunity to take her Y&R role to the show's sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. From 1993 to 1998, Davidson appeared on Days of our Lives and had the unique opportunity to play five different roles -- at the same time. In 1998, Davidson earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work. Just last month, Davidson was named Outstanding Lead Actress for her return engagement on DAYS.

Next week, Davidson begins a short-term story arc on Days of our Lives, and the actress will appear simultaneously as Ashley on Y&R beginning in September.

Davidson and Rinna were costars on DAYS for several years in the mid-1990s. For more on Lisa Rinna's addition to the show, click here.

The two women's addition to the Real Housewives franchise -- which Bravo has not yet confirmed -- is just the latest reality series dalliance with the world of soaps. Earlier this week, The Bold and the Beautiful vet Ronn Moss and General Hospital's Tyler Christopher appeared on ABC's >Celebrity Wife Swap.
