A former Pine Valley resident will make a move to Washington, DC, this fall. Cornelius Smith will be a series regular on ABC's Scandal.

All My Children's Cornelius Smith, Jr., (ex-Frankie Hubbard) is joining the cast of the ABC mega-hit Scandal.

TVLine reports that the former Hubbard family member has been upgraded to a series regular for Scandal's upcoming fifth season. Smith will reprise his role as activist Marcus Walker, a role he played twice before last season.

Scandal returns to ABC's "TGIT" Thursday night lineup on September 24 at 9/8c. There's no word yet on when or how Smith will pop up on screen.

Smith's former on-screen mom, Debbi Morgan (ex-Angie Hubbard) took to Twitter to share her excitement.

"A Big CONGRATS to my TV son, Cornelius Smith Jr (aka Frankie) on AMC on joining Scandal this season as a series regular," Morgan exulted. "I'm thrilled 4U!"

Smith appeared on All My Children from December 2007 through the series' ABC finale on September 23, 2011. In 2009, Smith earned a 2009 Outstanding Younger Actor nod at the Daytime Emmys and won Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series at the NAACP Image Awards.
