Brief Character History

All My Children:
Angela Baxter arrived in Pine Valley in 1982. She fell instantly in love with Jesse Hubbard, a boy from the other side of the tracks. After dating him for a while, Angie became pregnant. After she gave birth, she gave her baby, Frankie, up for adoption because she thought that Jesse was in love with another woman. When he confessed his love for her, they kidnapped their baby back. In the end, they got custody of him. Angie and Jesse were living happily together, and got married.

Then, Jesse was on a case. He had to find "Mr. Big" the leader of a drug ring. It turned out that it was Les Baxter, Angie's father. Les pulled a gun on Jesse, and Jesse responded and killed him. Angie was furious that Jesse had killed her father. They ended up reconciling, but something terrible happened. Jesse was shot in the back in the line of duty. Angie was heartbroken.

Years later, a woman named Cindy arrived in town. She and Angie quickly became friends. Then, Cindy said that she had AIDS. Cindy was in love with Stuart Chandler, and they got married. After Cindy died, Angie left Pine Valley, in 1990, with Frankie, and went to California, where she was taking a job in a hospital.

Loving:
Dr. Angela Baxter Hubbard arrived in the little town of Corinth, Pennsylvania. It was just miles from her old hometown on Pine Valley, but she couldn't go there because there were too many memories of her deceased husband, Jesse. She had a job at the Corinth Hospital. While in Corinth, she went to New York, and was kidnapped. In the end, she got out of it all right, and her soon-to-be husband, Charles Harrison, saved her. She began to fall for a man named Jacob Foster, but she had to stand by Charles. Angie and Charles were married, even though she had those feelings.

Charles then became the Corinth Chief of Police. Angie's best friend in the whole world, Stacey Forbes, was murdered. Angie was devastated and wanted revenge on whoever did this to sweet Stacey. After four others were killed, Angie's other dear friend, Jeremy Hunter, who lived in Pine Valley when she was there but had moved to Corinth, was killed. It was then revealed that Gwyneth Alden was the murderer. After the killings, Angie and Charles called it quits. Corinth just wasn't the same. Angie, Jacob, Buck, Tess, and many others moved to New York.

The City:
Angie opened up her own free clinic at 212 Greene Street, while Jacob and Buck opened up a bar. Soon, a little girl who was hurt arrived for treatment. Her mother had left her. Angie and Jacob soon became the girl, Kayla's, foster parents. Angie loved Kayla just like her own daughter. Jacob thought that she was getting too attached. When an article went out in the newspaper about a black woman trying to adopt a white girl, many people got furious. One night, Angie was returning to the clinic, and walked in on some thugs. They ran out, she fell, and was knocked unconscious. When she woke up, they had written on the wall "Adopt One of Your Own."

A social worker visited and said that a family wanted to adopt Kayla. They took her away from Angie, and Angie was heartbroken. Soon after that, there was a bomb that went off in the City Bar, almost killing her son, Frankie. Frankie moved to California, and Angie found out that Jared Chase was behind the bomb. Angie also found out that Jared had raped his wife, Sydney. Soon, she began sleepwalking. On June 22, 1996, Angie was sleepwalking. She walked into the Ad Agency, and found Jared dead on the floor. She saw the gun lying there. When she woke up, she thought that she had killed him. After one more killing, three attempted murders, and many pranks, the Masquerader was revealed to be Molly Malone.

Jacob soon planned a surprise wedding for Angie. What he didn't expect was for Tess to overhear him, Buck, and Nick talking and go tell Angie. For a week, Angie toyed with him, telling him that she couldn't go to the "party." In the end, she went, and they had a beautiful ceremony. Angie and Jacob's friend, Nick Rivers, needed a new liver. After a month of needing one, it didn't look good. He was planning on dying. Then, a new liver arrived, and he was saved. Sydney Chase decided that she was moving to London, so she was giving away her building. She gave Angie and Jacob each 7% of the building. What they didn't know was that they had been "gifted" with $1.2 million in back taxes. They ended up getting paid by Gino Soleito.

Tess Wilder was diagnosed with breast cancer. Angie helped her fight to keep her life. She ended up being cured, and she and Buck were married in the hospital chapel. Angie and Jacob wanted a baby desperately, but Angie couldn't become pregnant. The only way they could have a baby was to adopt or get a surrogate mother. The last week of The City was special for Angie and Jacob. Lorraine had been hit by a car and told Angie to look in an alley, which had a sign reading "Cassandra" on it. She did and found a baby girl. They took her to the hospital, but couldn't find the parents, so the doctor let Angie and Jacob take the baby home. They took her home, and everyone toasted Cassandra, the newest member of their incredible family, at 212 Greene Street.

All My Children:
Angie returned to Pine Valley in January of 2008 when Dr. Joe Martin called her in to treat two cases of infectious disease. One of the cases was Greenlee Smythe, while the other was Quentin, an outcast who had been living in the woods around Pine Valley. Joe had not yet seen the patient. When he did, he realized that Quentin was no outcast. Angie was stunned when she entered the patient's room and learned that she would be treating her son, Frankie Hubbard. Angie and Frankie shared a tearful reunion. Angie saved Greenlee and Frankie's lives when she found out they had been poisoned through tannis root.

Angie was in for a major surprise when she went to visit Jesse's grave and turned around to see Jesse standing right in front of her. Angie did not believe it was Jesse and decided that she would leave town. On the day she was going to leave, she planned on flying out, but Krystal convinced her to take the train. Jesse planned to leave town that same day, as well, by train, and Tad pulled some strings to have Jesse leave on a later train. Tad and Krystal were really playing matchmaker, and it worked. Jesse and Angie reunited at the train station and made love.

Angie begged Jesse not to leave her again, but Jesse said it was for her own good, since men were chasing after him and his staying with Angie would put her in danger. Angie told Jesse she wanted him to stay in town, and said they would fight these men together. Jesse agreed to stick around. Angie was relieved when they caught the man that was after Jesse, Rob Gardner, and he went to prison.

Angie started to love life with Jesse and becoming Mrs. Hubbard again. However, Jesse's past caught up with him when his daughter and ex-girlfriend, Natalia and Rebecca Fowler, showed up in town. Angie was upset, but she invited both Natalia and Rebecca to live with her. Angie found out that Rebecca was dying from a brain tumor, and Rebecca signed a "Do Not Resuscitate" form so, if her heart stopped beating, she would not be revived. One night, Rebecca went into cardiac arrest and Angie, being persuaded by Jesse and Natalia, revived Rebecca, and she lived. Rebecca would not live much longer, and she died when she was back home in Denver.

Angie clashed with Dr. David Hayward, and she suspected David was drugging her friend, Krystal Carey. Angie broke into Wildwind, where David resided, and found the drugs David used on Krystal. She had them analyzed and the test results showed they were not FDA approved. When David was confronted on this, he showed the police the drugs he had given to Krystal, and they were revealed to be FDA approved; David had switched the drugs so he would not get caught. Angie was arrested for breaking and entering and, as a result of her arrest, David suspended her from the hospital. However, Tad managed to plant drugs at Wildwind. Jesse was about to arrest David, but he decided not to charge David if David dropped the charges against Angie and reinstated her at the hospital. David agreed and Angie was reinstated.

David remained the adversary of almost everyone on the hospital staff, including Angie. He constantly questioned Angie's decisions as Chief of Staff and claimed the hospital operated better under his direction. Angie was delighted when she contacted the state medical board and they revoked David's medical license when they learned of the charges against him regarding the presumed death of Greenlee Smythe. Angie hosted a small party at ConFusion complete with a banner and champagne. David was the guest of honor and Angie delivered the news that he was no longer able to practice medicine. David was not amused by the party and he retaliated by purchasing Pine Valley Hospital.

David and Angie continued to disagree after David purchased the hospital. He limited the amount of basic medical supplies available at the hospital in order to cut costs. Angie was unable to convince David to change his stance on the amount of medical supplies and she started to conserve supplies where she was able to. She did not wear a pair of gloves when she treated a patient with a viral infection and she unknowingly transferred the virus to her eyes. She had bouts of lost vision and knew she would eventually lose all of her sight.

Initially Angie kept her diagnosis and prognosis secret from everyone while she processed the news and planned how she wanted to proceed. Jake Martin was the first to realize Angie had moments of lost vision and he became her confidant. They worked together to hide Angie's condition from David and she started using an experimental medication to prevent complete blindness. Angie was forced to tell Jesse the truth when he was with her during an episode of her lost vision. She also informed Jesse she was pregnant and he was thrilled to learn he would be a father again.

The news of Angie's pregnancy was bittersweet when she was forced to make a difficult decision. The medication that could save her vision was harmful to the baby so she had to choose between her vision and her child. She decided to stop the treatment. Jesse disagreed with Angie's decision but she was determined to have their child. When Jesse realized he could not change Angie's mind he supported her and joined Jake in helping Angie adjust to her loss of vision. David encountered Angie at the park and he realized something was wrong with her vision when she mistook him for her husband. Angie was concerned David would find out about her vision and use it against her but he was presumed dead before he had the chance.

Eventually Angie lost all of her vision and was declared legally blind. She was called in front of the hospital board and they accused her of compromising patient care until she explained another doctor had always been present when she treated patients. Her friends and family spoke on her behalf and the board allowed her to retain her position as Chief of Staff.

Angie's pregnancy progressed and she was relieved when all the tests showed the baby was healthy. Jesse and Angie had planned for the gender to remain a surprise but Jesse accidentally saw the file that revealed they were having a girl. Angie was thrilled with the news. They decided to name their daughter Ellie after Jesse's mother.

Near the end of Angie's pregnancy, Jesse took Angie on a romantic trip to their first house. The couple recited their wedding vows and reminisced the early days of their relationship until Angie went into labor. She realized there was no time to make it to the hospital and she sensed something was not right with her contractions. Jesse radioed for help from his squad car but no ambulance was available. Angie provided Jesse with instructions regarding the delivery of their daughter until she passed out. When Angie regained consciousness, she heard a baby cry and asked Jesse to hand her their daughter. Jesse hesitated for a few moments and then placed the baby in her arms. They decided their daughter felt more like a Lucille or Lucy for short and they used Eleanor as the middle name instead.

When Angie arrived at the hospital she experienced pain in her stomach and was surprised to learn she had suffered a placental abruption during delivery. She explained to Jesse their daughter truly was a miracle since most babies do not survive that trauma. After the doctors confirmed Lucy was perfectly healthy despite her unusual arrival Angie confessed to Jesse she could not have dealt with losing her child after losing her sight. Even with the news that Lucy was healthy Angie sensed something was off with Jesse. He was overprotective and nervous but Angie attributed his strange behaviors to the experience of delivering his own child and becoming a new father later in life.

Angie quickly learned how to care for Lucy using her other senses but she yearned to see her daughter. David visited Angie and informed her of an experimental procedure he could perform that could restore her vision. Angie was both skeptical and intrigued by David's offer but Jesse was completely against it. After much debate and contemplation, Angie decided to receive treatment from David. She was eager to begin the process but her treatments were delayed while David recovered from a stab wound he received from Erica Kane. When Angie did begin using the eye drops prescribed by David, Jesse continued to worry about the experimental aspect of David's work especially after David brought Dixie Cooney back from the brink of death using medical advancements that had not yet received FDA approval. Angie kept her faith in David as a doctor and hoped a medical miracle was in store for her as well.

In the meantime, Angie hired a young woman named Maya Mercado to be a live-in nanny for Lucy. Angie noticed how quickly Lucy and Maya bonded and she had no qualms about hiring Maya even though Jesse did. Angie assumed Jesse was being extremely cautious and she shared that she and Maya had bonded and she wanted to help Maya get her life back on track. Angie learned Maya was involved in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend Mookie and she had recently given up her own child for adoption. Angie shared her parallel experiences with her own controlling father with Maya and vowed to help Maya end her relationship with Mookie. Maya also confessed she missed the daughter she had given up and Angie promised to help Maya locate her daughter without telling Jesse.

David moved up the date for Angie's eye surgery and she looked forward to seeing her daughter for the first time. Angie confided in Jesse that Maya had a daughter she had given up and she explained that she had decided to help Maya find her child. Jesse broke down and told Angie that their daughter was gone. Angie assumed Jesse meant Lucy and she told Jesse that Lucy was fine. Jesse told Angie that Lucy was not their baby. Their daughter was Ellie and she was dead.

Jesse confessed what had really happened when Angie passed out during her labor. Jesse delivered Ellie but she was stillborn. At the same time, someone left Lucy in Brot's patrol vehicle with a note requesting that she be placed in a good home. Brot was the first to arrive after Jesse radioed for help when Angie went into labor. Jesse held his lifeless child he named Ellie in his arms while the abandoned baby girl cried. Angie regained consciousness and heard the baby cry. Jesse placed the baby in Angie's arms and they named her Lucy.

Angie demanded to know where her child was and Jesse took Angie to the place where he had buried their daughter. He told Angie that he visited their daughter's grave every day and Angie cried for the child she had lost. She refused to leave Ellie when night fell and she eventually drifted asleep next to her daughter's grave. In the morning, she told Jesse about the beautiful dream she had about Ellie.

Angie pieced together that Lucy was Maya's baby and Jesse confirmed she was correct. He had a DNA test run after he learned Maya had recently given birth to a baby girl. Angie was devastated she had to lose two babies, Ellie and Lucy, but she could not keep a mother and child apart. Angie reunited Maya with her daughter and told Maya she and Lucy could stay with them indefinitely.

Despite the stress of losing both Ellie and Lucy, Angie was cleared for surgery, although Jesse tried to have it postponed. Angie unleashed her anger on Jesse for making a decision for her after he made the decision not to tell her their baby had died. Angie chose to move forward with the surgery. She explained that regaining her vision was something positive she could hold on to while she dealt with the loss of her baby.

Angie's surgery went well but her vision did not immediately return and Maya decided to take Lucy and move out. Angie's life remained surrounded by darkness and she decided to visit David in jail. He had performed miracles on Dixie, Maria Santos, and Zach Slater through his experimental Project Orpheus and he claimed he had two more presumed-deceased Pine Valley residents hidden at one of his facilities. Angie encouraged David to make the right choice by revealing the names of the other patients so their family and friends could experience a miracle. She also asked David to reveal himself to the people of Pine Valley. She told David she had seen the good in him and others would see it as well if he let them.

Angie's vision returned and the tears in Jesse's eyes were Angie's first sight of her husband in over a year. He was packing up Lucy's crib. She saw the pain in Jesse's face and forgave him for allowing her to believe Lucy was her child and she realized his decision was made out of love. Angie decided they needed to grieve the loss of their daughter together. She also paid another visit to David and shared the news that her vision had returned. Angie was pleased to hear that David had revealed the name of one of his patients to Griffin Castillo with the intention of returning the person to their family soon.

Angie's family gathered together to celebrate her sight and Brot and Natalia's engagement. They had another reason to celebrate when Maya decided to move back in with Lucy and Angie acknowledged how blessed she was to be part of such a loving family.

The good news continued when Angie convinced Jesse to temporarily release David from jail so he could treat his mystery patient. The patient was Stuart Chandler. David and Griffin worked to save Stuart but it seemed as though their medical response to Stuart had failed when he flat-lined. Angie intervened by taking Adam to Stuart's side and she instructed Adam to talk to his brother. Stuart responded to Adam's voice and David was shocked by what had happened. Angie explained to David that Stuart needed his twin brother Adam, the other half of his heart.

David temporarily returned to jail until Adam arranged for him to be released on bail. Angie and Jesse both acknowledged the medical miracles David was responsible for and they thanked him. In return, David thanked Angie for seeing the good in him.

Adam hosted a welcome home party for Stuart at the Chandler mansion and he invited many Pine Valley residents, including the Hubbard family. When Angie and Jesse arrived at the party, Angie greeted her friends by commenting on how wonderful they all looked. Everyone was thrilled to learn that Angie's vision had been restored. Angie noted that Randi looked exceptionally well and seemed to have a glow about her and inquired if she was pregnant. Frankie responded with a no, but Randi answered with maybe.

Angie and Jesse both joined in toasting the speeches Tad was making about the love of family, friends, and neighbors in Pine Valley. They were present in the Chandler mansion when a shot rang out.

Time advanced five years between the final episode on ABC and the first episode of Prospect Park's online version.

Five years later, Angie and Jesse were still in love and residing in Pine Valley. Jesse planned to surprise Angie by flying Cassandra home from Paris. However, Cassandra was kidnapped at the airport by Russian sex traffickers. Angie was frantic when she learned that her daughter was missing and pressed Jesse to share everything he knew about her disappearance. While Jesse blamed himself for not keeping Cassandra safe, Angie received support from David Hayward. Angie had spoken to the parole board on David's behalf while he served time for shooting J.R. Chandler. She believed that David had acted out of grief after J.R. had killed David's daughter Marissa.

Once Cassandra was rescued, Jesse remained preoccupied and distant while Angie struggled to be strong for her daughter. She was horrified to learn that her daughter had been forced to consume drugs, raped, and required to participate in pornography. As Cassandra battled through withdrawal, she had intense flashbacks of what she had endured and Angie was sickened by Cassandra's physical and emotional pain. Angie wondered if her daughter would ever fully heal after she learned that Cassandra was pregnant.

Cassandra wanted to terminate the pregnancy immediately but Angie felt conflicted with the decision. Angie wanted to support her daughter but feared that Cassandra would regret her choice later on. Without her mother's knowledge, Cassandra terminated her pregnancy. Angie leaned on David while Jesse was arrested for faking the death of the man at the helm of the sex trafficking ring and framing Zach Slater for the man's death. Jesse explained that the man, Uri Koslov, had only returned Cassandra because they had struck a deal but Uri continued to threaten their family.

The charges against Jesse were dropped but he was forced to resign as the Chief of Police. Angie admonished Jesse for lying to her again and then offered her support to Jesse when he decided to open his own detective agency.
