Lily was drunk and sitting on the hotel bed with the mystery man. She told him she wanted to sleep, but he proposed they practice having sex, like an adult. Lily explained she could not touch because of her disorder. So, he said they should undress for visual stimuli. Lily took off her blouse and sat with her undershirt on, while the mystery man was completely shirtless. He said if he could not touch her, she should touch him. Lily reached out her hand to his chest, but pulled back. Lily stated she only wanted to sleep, but he persisted on having sex, so Lily could get experience. Meanwhile, Jonathan was still trying to crack the code Lily sent him via email. He was beginning to lose hope when a stranger handed him a flyer. On it, there was a hotel that fit Lily's code. Jonathan rushed off. In the hotel lobby, he ran into a man looking for someone. He showed Jonathan a picture of the mystery man. Jonathan said he saw him in a warehouse close by. Jonathan then waited for the hotel manager to find Lily's room. Lily was still upstairs trying to avoid the mystery man's advances when she heard Jonathan calling her name. She screamed, but the mystery man grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth. Jonathan busted down the door and began to fight the mystery man. Jonathan was thrown head first into the radiator. The mystery man grabbed his clothes, told Lily to forget everything that happened, and ran out. Jonathan was knocked out. When he woke up, he saw Lily sitting across the room, rocking and counting. He repeatedly told her it was going to be okay. Jonathan put out his hand. Lily finally became responsive and put her hand next to his.

A gunshot went off in the hospital! Kendall worried Zach was killed, but it was Zach who set off the shot. It was a warning to everyone outside. He announced that anyone who tried to come near Kendall would be shot. Ryan, knowing Zach was doing this out of love, asked Chief Frye to back off. He agreed to wait outside the hospital. Meanwhile, Tad heard the gunshot and rushed in asking what was going on. Erica took him into the lobby and explained that Zach had gun and would let no one in the room. She told Tad how worried she was for Kendall. He reassured and said never underestimate the power of a miracle. Then, Dr. Martin and Julia walked by with a medical cart. They said Zach approved Julia to go in and check on Kendall and the baby. Zach did this because he knew the two needed assistance he could not give them. Then, Dr. Martin handed Tad a fax, while Erica and Julia went to Kendall's room. Once there, Ryan called to Zach that Julia, and only Julia, was ready to enter. But, before Julia went in, Ryan asked her to disarm Zach. She agreed to try. Zach opened the door and Julia went in, but Erica ran in also! Zach aimed the gun at her and she proclaimed, "You better shoot to kill because that's the only way you'll keep me from my daughter!" Zach told her to get out, but she continued to plead with Zach to save Kendall. He denied her, so Erica made another request, to go over to Kendall and relay her love. Zach lowered the gun and tucked it in the back of his pants. Erica walked to the bed. Julia went also to check the vital signs. Suddenly, the baby's heartbeat could be heard. Zach asked Julia to turn the volume up so Kendall could hear. Kendall revealed how happy this sound made her. Then, Erica leaped and tried to grab the gun, but Zach caught her. He pointed the gun at Erica and they began to fight. Julia said the arguing was not good for Kendall. Erica stopped protesting and left willingly with Julia. Zach barricaded the door again and laid next to Kendall. He said that he knew she wanted to know the secrets of his past. He said he would tell her, but the truth was his life really started when he met her. Each said I love you simultaneously.

Dixie was still with JR in his jail cell. JR would not believe he shot his mother the night he held Krystal hostage. To prove this, Dixie took off her jacket and revealed her bullet wound. JR looked astonished. Dixie said she never wanted him to know. This was her reason for not revealing herself after the shooting. She was near death and did not want her son to know he almost killed his mother. JR said he did not mean to do it. She asked if someone had to actually die for him to wake up. Then, she implored that he take responsibility for his actions. He said it was too late, but she disagreed. She told him only he could make things right again and that he could get back his family and his life. Then, Dixie looked troubled and called for the guard. Before she left she told JR she loved him. When she arrived at her hotel room, David was waiting outside. He figured out Kate was alive and that Dr. Madden stole her. He hugged Dixie and said he would help her find Kate. Dixie admitted she gave JR advice that she needed to follow herself. She asserted she was going to take responsibility for her actions. David left. Dixie then called Tad. Tad was in the hospital lobby with Brooke. He confided in Brooke that he commiserated with Zach because of his own situation with Dixie. When he picked up his phone, Dixie said they needed to talk. He inquired if it was about JR. She replied it was about everything, including their daughter, Kate.

Lily awakes with a start in the hotel room and calls out for Jonathan. Having slept on the chair, he rouses himself from sleep as quickly as he can and goes to the bedside. He explains how he stayed up watching over her as long as he could, and then asks her if she is okay. Disoriented, Lily tells him no. To calm her, Jonathan gives her some water to help with her hangover, while trying to explain what the term meant. He makes a valiant start, but the pain in his head from where he had been hit stops him, and Lily mistakenly thinks that Jonathan is hung over as well. He tells her that he probably just needs more sleep, so she offers to watch over him while does just that. A short while later, Lily creeps close to Jonathan to see how he's doing. He wakes up and tells her that he feels a bit better. He inquires as to how she is feeling, and she admits that she thinks he might be mad at her. He tells her he isn't and wonders aloud why she would think such a thing. She tells him that she thinks it was a mistake for her to come to New York City by herself, and that she obviously can't handle it because of her disorder. Jonathan assures her that all places have a good and bad side, with good and bad people. He tells her that he wants to show her the good side before she makes her final decision.

Aidan tells Erin via phone that he lost Jonathan - and she is dismayed that her brother is alone in the city. Aidan tells her that Jonathan is a definite link to finding Lily, and when Erin fails to see the connection, he tells her about the email that Jonathan received in the library, and how he knocked Aidan out to keep him from seeing it.

Later on, Aidan, accompanied by a hotel employee, arrives and knocks on the door to Lily and Jonathan's room. After knocking several times and getting no response, he asks the employee to open the door. He does, and when Aidan enters the room, he glumly notes that he is too late.

At Fusion, Simone and Dani are discussing a new product when Babe arrives on the scene. They initially try to ignore her, but to no avail. Babe snatches the material that they are looking at and tells them that they should take heed: JR tried to ignore her, and they all know where that landed him. She tells them how sad it is that they can't pull together as a team while Kendall is down and out. She also notes that regardless of how they may feel about her past misdeeds, she is not some kind of human target. As part owner of Fusion, she is here to stay. Dani starts to chime in with a smart remark, but Babe silences her by reminding her that because she has no stock in the company, what she has to say is of little interest. However, she does invite Simone to let loose the thoughts bouncing around in her head. Simone takes a moment, and then says that if Kendall dies, she isn't sure what will be left of Fusion. Calmer, Dani chimes in and said that with Greenlee gone and now this...Fusion just wouldn't be the same. She also contributes by noting that no one really wants to work with the woman who lied in court about Kendall's wishes for her baby. Hackles raised once again, Babe vehemently denies having perjured herself. Simone and Dani make it clear that they can't believe Babe and Kendall could have become such good friends that Babe would have been able to obtain such intimate information. Erin tries to step in and diffuse the situation, noting that while Babe did what she thought was right - that doesn't give anyone the right to beat up on her. Simone, offended, tells Erin that she can be fired as quickly as she was hired. Not intimidated, Erin invites her to do so, as she is unwilling to back down from her opinion. Babe encourages Simone to go through with her threat as well, if only because she has the power to hire Erin back. The catfight continues for a few minutes more until Erin breaks in once again. She reminds Simone and Dani that they are not the only ones who are emotionally wrecked. She points out that even though Kendall is the one in the hospital, Babe is dealing with the fact that he husband plotted to kill her. And for Erin, Kendall is pregnant with her nephew, one brother is shredded over that situation and the other brother is lost in New York City. Humbled by her laundry list, Simone and Dani retract their claws. Erin notes that there is enough drama without the in-fighting, and that if it continues, she'll just quit. They agree that since Kendall co-built the company, she is the only person left that can dismantle it. Simone then hands out assignments for all, and they take off in their respective directions. Alone at her desk, Babe can't help but stare at the picture of her with JR and their son. Her reverie is disturbed when Josh shows up and touches her on the shoulder. He starts to say something, but it cut off when she stands and slaps him across the face. She immediately assumes the worst and tells him that just because her husband is in jail, that doesn't mean that it's open season for flirting. Josh proclaims his innocence and says that while he thinks she is attractive and would definitely make a move on her if she was single, it is very clear to him that she is wrapped up in her love for her family. He tells her that he showed up at the office out of genuine concern for her - he thought that she could use a shoulder to lean on, and that since neither of them is very popular, maybe they could risk being friends and have lunch together. They end up heading off to the park for a picnic, and although she is still thinking a lot about JR, she admits that Josh's surprise made her feel better. Having finished the main part of lunch, Josh offers her either a piece of pie or a pastry for dessert. She closes her eyes and tells him to surprise her. He stops for a moment, and then leans in and plants a kiss on her lips.

JR paces like a caged lion in his cell. He hears the outer doors, and without looking, tells his latest visitor that unless they are coming to bust him out, they should leave. When that tactic fails, he looks to see who showed up. When he realizes that it's Stuart, he apologizes, morosely noting that everyone in the family has deserted him. Stuart tells him that maybe the family needs time to figure out what to do next, and JR asks if that what Stuart is doing. Stuart rejects that notion, assuring his nephew that he is still loved. He follows by saying that he just needs to figure out how to help. JR tells him that he can help out by posting his bail, but Stuart points out that he is well aware of JR's misdeeds and notes that those are the things that need to be addressed. Incensed at Stuart's forced reasoning, JR questions why his uncle won't help out. Stuart quickly says that it isn't his intention to leave JR high and dry - he just wants to know what will happen if he bails him out. JR tells him that he just wants to go home, but Stuart insists on specificity - where exactly will JR go, what will he do and most importantly - who will he do it to? JR takes this moment to throw a pity party for himself - noting that he hasn't given Stuart a reason to trust him, and that everyone else has decided that tough love is the best love, including Dixie. Stuart apologizes quickly for JR's feeling lonesome and then dashes out of the jail. Shortly thereafter, Stuart returns with a guard who releases JR from his cell. Excitedly, JR bounds out of the cell and shakes Stuart's hand in thanks. As he does, the guard handcuffs them together. JR, bewildered, asks what's going on. Stuart, ever a twinkle in his eye, simply tells JR that he will soon find out.

Dixie shows up in a back yard and immediately recalls a time she shared with Tad and the boys. She smiles slightly, but it quickly disappears when Tad arrives and asks her if the place looks familiar. Dixie notes that it was once home - that is, until she threw it all away. Dixie says that she needs to tell him the truth about Kate. She admits that she should have come to him a long time ago, but tells him that she has been a coward and afraid to do so. Tad queries as to why she would be afraid of him. She corrects him and says that she was afraid for him - scared that the news she held would break his heart. He tells her that his heart broke four years ago when Brooke informed him her car had flown off the road, and that both she and their daughter were gone. Dixie tells him that she thought she could fix everything that went wrong before coming back, but she kept making mistakes. Tad confesses that he believes the first mistake was his - not believing in her, and how much she wanted their daughter. Because of that, she went halfway around the world to make it come true, despite his objections. Dixie refuses to let him shoulder that burden, saying that they had all they needed until she threw it away. Tad is confused, so Dixie clarifies by telling him that Kate was born alive - small at just over 3 pounds, but alive and strong. She then tells him that Kate should be in the here and now with them, but Tad tries to soothe her by saying that it's too late to think of what could have been. Upset, Dixie tells him it's not too late - and blurts out that Greg Madden lied, and that their daughter is alive somewhere, growing up with other parents. Thinking that her mental break was now complete, Tad takes her into his arms and hugs her. Unaware of his belief, Dixie relaxes a little, and begs him to help her. Tad assures her that he will, but when she clarifies and says that she wants help in finding their daughter, Tad is forced to show his hand. He tells her that she doesn't have to worry anymore - now that she is home, they can grieve together. Dixie is confused as to why she would have to grieve at all, and Tad tells her that it's okay to have trouble accepting the loss of their daughter. Belatedly, she realizes that Tad doesn't believe her and tearfully questions why. Tad tells her that his father talked to the hospital where Kate was born, and they faxed over a death certificate. He unfolds the copy he had in his pocket and shows it to his ex-wife. Dixie stares mutely at the paper, stunned at the lengths to which Dr. Madden will go. She tells Tad that Madden faked the death certificate, and is flabbergasted that Tad would take Madden's word over her own. She then revises, realizing that she destroyed her own credibility by staying away. Desperate, she tries to think of anything that she knows that could sway Tad's thinking in her directions. She mentions ReGeneration and although Tad recognizes that as the name of Madden's company, she informs him that it is also the name of the island where he impregnates women with his own seed. Tad finds this amusing and Dixie tells him that Zach was there and can corroborate her story. Tad tells her that he doesn't trust Zach, so she goes for the next thing - Josh. As she relates that she knows how Josh isn't really Madden's - but rather, the product of the union between Erica and Jeff Martin, Tad's smile slowly fades. Dixie, not paying close attention to the change in his demeanor, tries to explain the latest scenario so that she appears less crazy. When she finally looks into his face again, she realizes that the extra explanations were not necessary. She stops talking and Tad gravely tells her that she needs to relate everything that she can remember from the moment Kate was born. She reveals that she got to see and touch Kate before she began her endless trip in and out of surgery. Tad asks what she was able to find out from Greg when she reached consciousness between surgeries. When she hesitates, he fires more questions at her, all geared at trying to find some clue that will lead to finding their daughter. Dixie tells him that the answer he is asking for is the one thing that she hoped to never have to tell him - the one thing that will make him hate her and never want to see her again. He tells her that she can say anything, so Dixie starts to open up. She recalls that when Madden told her that she was dying, he convinced her that if Tad were to raise Kate, he would make her feel unwanted, unloved and responsible for the fact that Dixie was gone. Tad flies off the handle at this admission, and blasts her for not having enough faith in him to not destroy their daughter's life. He angrily notes that if Madden lied to her and used her fear to take Kate away, he kidnapped her and will pay for it. Tad starts to take off after Madden, but Dixie manages to rein him in long enough to tell him that he should hear the whole story before leaving. She reveals that there is one more mistake that she made - she signed the papers that gave Kate to Madden so that he could put her up for adoption.

Greg naps on a couch in his hotel room, but is soon awakened by David's obnoxious sipping on his coffee. He sits up with a start, and demands to know why David has come calling. David drops hints about his heart episode, saying that it's a good thing that he stopped by - should Greg find himself having symptoms again. Irritated, Greg thinks that perhaps David had taken some sort of drug which would explain the bulk of the current conversation. When David denies it, Greg demands to know what he really wants. David tells him that he wants information on where to find Kate Martin. Greg tries to cover up being slightly taken aback by starting to explain his distant relationship to Dixie. David is unmoved and continues to ask where Kate is when he doesn't get the answer he is looking for. When Greg still refuses to budge, David lays out a few scenarios - selling her, or perhaps giving her away. Greg invites him to leave and David admits to not having a problem with that, but mysteriously notes again that him leaving might not be in Greg's best interest. Willing to try anything, Greg attempts to get under David's skin by noting that his daughter's marital problems must have him on edge. He tells David that under those circumstances, he would be willing to forgive all of the day's transgressions if David would simply take his leave. David insists that he must stay until Greg gives up the information that he has on Kate. Greg surmises that he needs to call the authorities. David is unmoved at the thought - and tells Greg that he'll probably need his cell phone for that. Greg believes that David has stolen it, but David denies doing any such thing. He then points out that the land line has also been destroyed, and tells Greg that he has a relatively short amount of time to come up with another option before trouble sets in. As David observes Greg's increasing symptoms and fairly exacerbates them with his words, Greg demands to know what David did to him. David decides to leave, but Greg stops him. He reminds David of the oath that he took as a doctor - first do no harm. David tells him that the power is in his hands - give up information about Kate as an even trade for help from with his heart. Greg still tries to hold out, although the pain is getting more severe. He tells David that he can't leave him to die because then, Dixie will never know where her daughter is. David agrees, but says that on the flip side, if Greg would rather die than give up information, he's useless.

Adam walked into his backyard and told Krystal he was going to bail out JR. Krystal just looked at him. He got frantic and said stop me! He then broke down and admitted he had a big part in JR's demise. He claimed all of his protection and molding of JR only made things worse for his son. He implored Krystal to give him advice on whether or not he should bail JR out. Krystal explained that it was Adam's decision to make. Adam said he wanted another chance to love JR unconditionally because he deserved it. Krystal replied that Adam deserved it too.

Babe and Josh had just kissed at the park. Josh admitted afterwards he had feelings for Babe and wanted a chance with her. Babe said she was still married and in love with JR. Josh asked how she could leave JR for Jamie if he was the love of her life. Babe said she did not regret her time with Jamie. She loved Jamie, but it was because he made her the woman she is today; the woman that loves JR. Then, Jamie walked up to them and told Josh to leave. Babe agreed and he left. Jamie then said he missed JR and they would be brothers until the end. He declared he missed JR and would do anything to get him back. Then, Winifred showed up with Little Adam. Jamie explained to the child that JR had to go away for a while, but loved him very much.

Tad and Dixie continued to argue. Tad was irate that Dixie did not trust him and chose to give Kate up for adoption. Dixie said it was the biggest mistake of her life, but this was no consolation for Tad. He exclaimed he hated Dixie's guts and it made him sick to look at her. He said he would never forgive her. Dixie still tried to explain her reasoning. Dixie said her fear was that when she died, Tad would blame the baby. She revealed that after she got better, she asked Dr. Madden for Kate back. He said it was too late; she was already with another family. He then disappeared. Dixie claimed she was protecting Tad and JR by not coming forward after the accident. The whole time she was gone, Dixie was tracking down Dr. Madden to no avail. She also divulged her idea to blackmail Dr. Madden with Josh's real identity. However, she could not go through with the plan because it would hurt too many people. She also confessed her failure as a parent, but said she thought about JR and Kate everyday she was gone. Dixie described the pain of not being with her children as unbearable. She said sometimes she wished she died in the crash. Tad was unimpressed with Dixie's story and said she was wrong not to trust him. He then left.

Stuart had bailed out JR without anyone knowing. Stuart handcuffed himself to JR. He made JR take a tour of Pine Valley. First, he brought him to the park to watch Babe. JR witnessed her denying Josh and professing her love for him. He also saw how much Jamie missed him and that he was not trying to take his place as Little Adam's father. Instead, he was keeping JR's memory alive for the young child. Then, JR went to the mansion. He watched his father agonize over JR's situation. Finally, Stuart brought him to Tad's home. He listened to Tad and Dixie's argument and realized Kate is alive. He also saw how much his mother loved and missed him while she was away.

David was still threatening Dr. Madden's life. He repeatedly asked where Kate was. Dr. Madden said David was a fool for listening to Dixie because she was just using him. David explained Dr. Madden's manipulations would not work on him. Dr. Madden was sweating profusely and seemed to be getting worse. Just then, Amanda began to knock on the door. Dr. Madden yelled to her for help. She came inside and told David to help him. David pretended he wanted to save Dr. Madden so Amanda would not be suspicious. He stabilized Dr. Madden and told him he owed his life to Amanda. After David left, Amanda told Dr. Madden she changed her mind about being a surrogate. Dr. Madden sweet talked her once again and eased her mind. Amanda said it was just cold feet and decided to go through with it. Amanda left and Dr. Madden was left with a smug look on his face. Then, all of a sudden, his door busted open! Tad stood in the doorway and stared intensely at Dr. Madden.

Chief Frye came back to Kendall's room to get Zach out. Ryan asked him to back off again because Zach had let someone else in. Ryan said it was someone he could not say no to. Bianca stood inside the room with tears in her eyes. She talked to Kendall about Miranda and her nephew, Spike. Zach said he knew she was there to fight him for Kendall's life. Bianca explained she could not take a side. She maintained that she was on both Kendall and Spike's side. Undeniably distraught, she said it was up to God. Meanwhile, Ryan was outside talking with Di. She asserted that Dixie was truly responsible for JR's actions. She tried to plead JR's case to Ryan, but he would not have it. He said he did not want her pity. He just wanted Kendall and the baby to be healthy. Bianca then emerged from the hospital room. Ryan inquired if she was able to get through to Zach. She explained she would not take a side. Julia went back in to check on Kendall. Zach was sitting next to Kendall and happily described Bianca's visit. Julia saw Zach carelessly left his gun on the medical cart. She slowly picked it up and walked towards the door. When Zach turned around she pointed the gun at him and declared, "It's over Zach."

Erica is thrilled to see Bianca but her joy quickly turns to displeasure when she learns that Bianca did not use her opportunity alone with Zach to convince him to let Kendall have her life-saving surgery. Erica is convinced that with the operation the baby his a slim chance of survival while without it, Kendall has absolutely no chance. Bianca tries to make her mother understand that she loves Kendall but that ultimately the decision is Zach's and he's only doing what he feels Kendall would want him to do. Erica's frustration with Bianca results in Erica accusing Bianca of coming to Pine Valley just to watch her sister die. Hurt by Erica's harsh words, Bianca walks away in tears. Ryan follows her in order to offer her comfort. Bianca asks Ryan if it's possible that it will be partly her fault if Kendall dies because she didn't try to convince Zach to change his mind about the surgery. Ryan tells her no, but it may be his fault. Determined to take action, Ryan walks away.

Erica sees Josh after Bianca leaves in tears. She is desperate and asks him to tell her more about the experimental surgery that could save Kendall's life. Josh gently explains to Erica that Kendall's condition has worsened and she is no longer a viable candidate for the surgery. As they talk, Josh admits that as strange as it may sound, seeing Kendall lying in her bed, he feels some sort of connection or bond with her. Erica is a bit taken aback but not enough to tell him why he feels that way. She thanks him for his support given everything that has gone on between them just as Ryan and Bianca return with Derek in tow. Ryan explains that he has waited too long for Zach to change his mind and it's time to do take matters into his hands. Derek and other officers quickly take their places as they prepare to spring action the moment Julia emerges from the room.

Inside Kendall's hospital room, Julia points a gun at Zach and implores him to step aside so that they can give Kendall the operation that she desperately needs. Zach refuses to budge and calls her bluff. Julia is conflicted. She wants to help Kendall but she can't bring herself to shoot Zach. She's taken one man's life and she can't take another man's life especially when he's acting out of love for his wife. Zach explains that it's not his choice but Kendall's to put the welfare of her child first and he's only honoring her wishes. As Zach resumes his seat next to Kendall and holds her hand he starts talking to her. He is elated when he feels a subtle movement in Kendall's hand and tells Julia.

Dixie tells Di and Del that she gave birth to Kate and then gave her away. Both are shocked until Dixie goes on to explain the circumstances. She tells them that she was a mess after her accident and Greg managed to convince her that she was dying and the best thing she could do for her daughter was give her up for adoption. In the state that Dixie was in, she easily fell for Greg's manipulations. Del is completely supportive and angry at how Greg took advantage of Dixie. He offers to go beat him up and force him to give them the information that they need in order to find Kate. Di's reaction is different. She doesn't think that there is any excuse for Dixie's decision to give Kate up for adoption nor to keep the truth from Tad. She tells Dixie that what she did to Tad was awful but what Dixie did was unforgivable. Del leaves the sisters to talk, once again reminding Dixie that he is fully in her corner. Alone, Dixie tells Di that she doesn't have any idea what she is talking about. She didn't just give Kate away and her decision to not tell Tad is much more complicated than Di can imagine. Di isn't convinced. She feels that Dixie is a horrible mother who not only wronged her son but her daughter as well. Dixie decides to leave rather than argue any further with Di.

Tad demands answers from Greg about where Kate is. Greg remains stubbornly silent and tries to manipulate Tad with his version of the truth. Tad doesn't fall for Greg's twisted version of events. He reminds Greg that not only did he steal his brother Jeff's child but now he has stolen Tad's. Clearly there is a pattern. Tad lets Greg know in no uncertain terms that while Dixie may not want to hurt Erica, he has no qualms about blowing her world apart by exposing the truth about Josh if it means he can find Kate. Greg doesn't believe him. The two men go back and forth until, frustrated, Tad resorts to a more persuasive form of intimidation, by punching Greg in the gut. Greg warns that he has a heart condition and assault can have serious consequences. Tad responds to that by punching Greg in the face. He continues to push and shove Greg around until Greg relents and gives Tad the name and address of the family who adopted Kate. Tad warns him that if he doesn't find Kate he will be back to pick up where he left off with Greg. After Tad leaves, Greg vows that Tad will not hurt him or anyone else again.

Zach tells Julia he saw Kendall move her finger, but when he asks her to do it again Kendall is unresponsive. Julia tells Zach that the movement does not necessarily mean Kendall is coming out of her coma. Zach thinks the movement is a sign of Kendall telling them not to take her baby, but Julia tells him she has to physically open her eyes and tell them what her wishes are. Kendall tells herself to move her finger, as Zach begs to know if he is doing the right thing, but nothing happens. Zach tells Julia to get out of the room after listening to her bring up the worst case scenarios. As Kendall thinks of being in a coma for the rest of her life, a tear trickles down her cheek, but Zach is too far from the bed to notice. Zach tries to bribe Kendall to wake up with romantic trips

As Derek prepares to tear down the door, Ryan tells him he will go inside of the room. Bianca tells Ryan not to go in the room and brawl with Zach because Kendall would not want that. Bianca asks for more time, but Ryan says Kendall does not have any more time. Bianca asks for a moment alone with Ryan, as Erica and Derek put their police plans on hold. Bianca tells Ryan that if he declares war on Zach, he can't take it back, and wanted him to see that before storming into Kendall's room. She adds that if Kendall lives, she could hate him for taking away her choices and her son. Ryan isn't sure of what Kendall wants because last he knew, she didn't want the baby. Bianca tells him she believes Zach and Babe when they say Kendall wants her son. Of course, she doesn't want her sister to die, but Bianca doesn't understand what Ryan is trying to do. Ryan admits he wants to save Kendall because he is still in love with her, but realizes he is too late.

Jackson is not pleased with Aidan's attempts to find Lily, so he lets it be known at Aidan's office. Reggie tells them that Lily is in more danger if Jonathan finds her first. Aidan updates Jackson on Lily's stay at the hotel, as Erin walks in. Aidan tells them about the man seen at the hotel, so Jackson assumes it was Jonathan. Erin tells Jackson and Reggie that Jonathan loves Lily and would never harm her. Aidan and Erin suggest that Jackson accept Lily and Jonathan's relationship because that is the only way she will return to Pine Valley. Reggie warns Jonathan not to give in to Erin and Aidan, but Erin points out that Lily and Jonathan will be together no matter what they think. Jackson tells Aidan he will let the grudge against Jonathan go, but once he gets outside with Reggie, Jackson says all bets are off once Lily is home.

Back in New York, Jonathan tries to show Lily the quieter side of the city. He takes her to parks and to see the Statue of Liberty, but when people start brushing by Lily and the noise grows, she repeats, "No touching!" Jonathan tells Lily to think of the situation as a mathematical equation, which helps calm her down. After they sit down at a table, Jonathan tells her they need to go back to the hotel because he has a terrible headache. The last time he had a headache was when he had the brain tumor, Jonathan adds. Lily tells Jonathan lots of things can cause headaches, so it doesn't mean his tumor is returning. A little while later, Jonathan starts to feel better. Lily tells Jonathan she loves him, which shocks Jonathan. She tells him that since she is now 18, she would like to talk about them getting married. Jonathan asks her to marry him again, but this time, she says yes.

Stuart brings Babe to the boathouse to discuss Memorial Day picnic plans, but is shocked with JR walks in. Babe figures JR used his power and money to get out of jail, but Stuart tells her that JR's bail was posted with special provisions. Stuart admits he bailed JR out, so Babe figures JR pulled the wool over Stuart's eyes - something she will not be a victim of. Stuart asks Babe to hear JR out because he truly has changed, then leaves. JR tells Babe she was right about him doubting their love because of Dixie's unexpected return. JR says he believes she loves him and even admits he tried to kill her when she asks him. As Babe proclaims his love for Babe, she tells him their marriage is over. JR says he went on an eavesdropping tour with Stuart and heard her tells Jamie and Josh she loved him, despite what he's done to her. JR says he knows their marriage was never a scam and he will take full responsibility for everything he's done. JR tells Babe he got himself checked into an alcohol rehab program at the hospital, but can not get through the therapy alone. JR asks Babe for another chance and her forgiveness.

Stuart goes to the hospital to check on Kendall. He finds Erica, who seeks his advice about Kendall's situation. Stuart brings up a similar situation involving his childhood dog, Cooter, who taught him that there are some things in life people can't fix. Stuart tells her that when Cooter was 12, he jumped on Stuart's bed, licked his face as though to say good-bye, but lived for four more years. Erica thanks him for the story, but says nothing can make it easier for her.

Ryan goes to the door and tells Zach they will not take the baby, but he wants to come inside of the room so Zach lets him in.
