She started her career as a model and later transitioned into acting. She made her film debut in 1981 with Choices and also made her television debut with the soap opera General Hospital in 1982. She became well-known in the 1980s with films like Blame it on Rio (1984), About Last Night... (1986), and St. Elmo's Fire (1985). Demi Moore’s mother's name is Virginia King. Her biological father, Charles Harmon Sr., abandoned her after 2 months of marriage; before Demi was born. Demi Moore was raised by her stepfather, Dan Guynes, as her mother married him when Demi was three months old. The family moved around a lot, and in an interview with Vanity Fair in 1991, she talked about her stepfather and said, "My dad is Dan Guynes. He raised me. There is a man who would be considered my biological father who I don't really have a relationship with.”


Demi Moore’s relationship with her mother, Virginia, remained difficult for most of her life. They faced many challenges, as her mother was a drug addict. In 2019, in an interview with Harper Bazaar, Demi recalled the time when her mother overdosed on drugs. She followed in her parents' footsteps and became an actress.
