How old was Tom Holland in Captain America: Civil War?

At the time when Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War was released, Tom Holland was just 18 years old. Captain America: Civil War marked Tom’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Spider-Man. His version of Spiderman was a revived version, taking over its predecessor Andrew Garfield from Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man Universe.

Tom Holland had to audition against over 1,500 other teenagers who had arrived to get the role of Spider-Man. When Marvel’s casting head Sarah Halley Finn saw him in the audition, she revealed to Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, “This is the guy. You’re going to love him.” At the time Joe and Anthony were more impressed with Tom’s flexibility and his talent for his dancing and gymnastics.

Producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal were already familiar with Tom’s acting background from his performances in his earlier movies The Impossible and In the Heart of the Sea. Even the late Stan Lee had approved of Tom Holland's casting, claiming that he had envisioned Spider-Man aka Peter Parker to be the exact age and height of Tom when he had initially drawn the character.
