Joshua Jackson’s dating history

Canadian-American actor Joshua Jackson is famous for playing Pacey Witter in the teen drama series Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003). He subsequently gained more fame playing Peter Bishop in the sci-fi series Fringe (2008-2013), Cole Lockwood in the romantic drama series The Affair (2014-2018), and the lead role in the crime miniseries Dr. Death (2021). Katie Holmes (1998-1999)

Jackson dated his Dawson's Creek co-star Katie Holmes from 1998 to 1999, and even after their breakup, they both went on to work on the show till 2003. Jackson has talked about keeping in touch with his Dawson's Creek co-stars, including Holmes. He said -

“Busy [Philipps] and Michelle [Williams] are very, very close. And Katie and I are very close,"

He further added-

“It's not a daily call. Sometimes it's not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call. But when you're together, there's always that, like, I know you know”.

Diane Kruger (2006-2016)

From 2006 to 2016, the actor was in a relationship with German actress Diane Kruger, but in an interview with US Weekly in 2012, the actor made it clear that marriage was not on his cards. Jackson said:

"Marriage is important for the people it's important for, but neither one of us is particularly religious, so I don't think there's any particular push,” before adding “But never say never! I don't know.”

Kruger was also heard mentioning that commitment was more important to her than marriage. The couple broke up in 2016.

Jodie Turner-Smith (2018-2023)

Joshua Jackson married British actress Jodie Turner-Smith in December 2019, and in April 2020, they had a daughter, Juno. Turner-Smith and Jackson met for the first time in 2018 at a birthday party. The two tied the knot in December 2019.

In a 2022 interview with Forbes, Jackson extensively talked about his wife. He said -

“The joy it is to watch her be in the process and be becoming a mother and how honored I feel to get to be next to that — to witness it, to watch it grow, to hopefully nurture it in its growth. I love how empowered my wife is inside of that fashion space — how much it is a source of joy and that bleeds into her home life, as well. I love watching my wife be able to be uplifted and celebrated and seeing how fed she is by that makes me a very, very happy man when I get to see that.”

Turner-Smith echoed his words by adding -

“When I met Josh and one of the biggest reasons why I married him, wanted him to be my husband, is because of how loved and supported I felt by him. I had never been with anyone who I thought was wanting to lift me up the way that I felt that he was lifting me up. That is one of my favorite things about him.”

However, the marriage of Turner-Smith and Jackson didn't last forever and ended in October 2023. Months later, Turner-Smith shared an introspective take on their divorce, saying:

"Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children."

She continued -

"I don’t think it’s a failure. We obviously had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us. And how exciting!”

Lupita Nyong’o (2023-2024)

Joshua Jackson started dating Lupita Nyong'o in October 2023, which is around the same time of his divorce from Turner-Smith. Like the actor, Nyong'o was also going through a very public split with sports anchor Selema Masekela. Months later, in March 2024, Jackson and Nyong'o were spotted in Mexico, where they were celebrating her 41st birthday.

When Jackson was seen with model Nastassja Roberts in September 2024, rumours of a breakup between him and Nyong'o started circling. Only next month, Nyong'o confirmed that they are no longer together by claiming her relationship status as single in a Harper’s Bazaar interview. Nyong'o said;

“My love for my cat is singular," she said. "If I'm ever so lucky to be in a romantic relationship again, it'll be because of him. I was ready to shut that door and lock it and bolt it. He has ensured that my heart remains open.”
