Born November 11, 1974, Leonardo DiCaprio is an American actor and film producer who is best known for his roles in The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, and several other films. The actor made his debut in 1989 after appearing in television commercials during the 1980s. He then earned his first major film part in This Boy’s Life before his breakthrough role in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. That also earned him his first Academy Award nomination although he hit international stardom with his role in Titanic.


DiCaprio soon became a prolific and high-profile actor, with roles in acclaimed director Martin Scorsese’s films including Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and more. He also had roles in Inception, Django Unchained, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and The Revenant. However, while DiCaprio kept missing out on Oscars, he eventually managed to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant. Not only that, he has also won a British Academy Film Award and three Golden Globes over the course of his career.

Leonardo Dicaprio was born on November 11 1974, in Los Angeles, California to Irmelin Indenbirken and George DiCaprio. His mother, Irmelin, was a legal secretary while his father, George was an underground comix artist and distributor. His father was active in underground comix throughout the 1970s and was also a performance artist during the same period. The couple had only one son although they got divorced when DiCaprio was only one year old.


However, both his parents have been spotted with DiCaprio at various awards festivals, as his mother attended his first Oscar win in 2016 while his father was spotted at the 2020 Oscars Nominee Luncheon. Not only that, the American actor credits his parents for supporting him during rough spells in his career and even for giving him the freedom to drop out of high school to pursue acting.
