Simone Missick is an American actress most famous for playing the title role of judge Lola Carmichael in CBS network’s legal drama All Rise from 2019 to 2023. Her breakout role was playing the character Misty Knight in Marvel’s Luke Cage in 2016. Other than these, Missick has been part of several television series. She reprised the role of Misty Knight in several other Marvel shows like The Defenders (2017) and Iron Fist (2018). She was also part of the second season of Netflix's science fiction series Altered Carbon (2018-2020).

According to an interview given by the actress to Hour Detroit magazine, she grew up in a working-class family in Detroit. Her father was an adult educator, while her mother was a health inspector. The actress has two siblings as well, with whom she's very close. Simone is the youngest of the three. Her brother and sister are both eight years older than her.
Simone has shared the experience of her siblings playing ‘flying airplane’ with her in childhood. On April 11, 2020, i.e, Sibling Day, Simone made an emotional post on Instagram about how much she loves her siblings and how special they are to her. She extensively wrote about being their back up singer, eating mud pies and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and making a mess together.
Missick is very close to her mother-in-law as well. During the time of the pandemic, her mother-in-law was diagnosed with Covid. In an interview given to Essence about her work, faith and family, Missick shared her experience about the whole thing.
“We shut down [production] on a Friday, by Sunday, my mother-in-law had come down with Covid. Four days later, she was on a ventilator.”
Her mother-in-law did recover, and the whole experience only made Missick and her family stronger. She shared-
“By God’s grace, she’s healthy and off it, but during that time — in addition to fasting until she left the hospital — we as a family started a prayer call every day.”
