Steve Martin’s family

Steve Martin is a popular American actor, comedian, writer, and musician. He was born on August 14, 1945, in Waco, Texas. Martin started his career as a comedy writer and became popular in the 1970s for his performances on The Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live. He first got a writing job at the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hours and also won a Primetime Emmy Award for it. Steve is also a Grammy-winning musician. His comedy albums Let's Get Small (1977) and A Wild and Crazy Guy (1978) went platinum.

Apart from comedy and music, he has worked on many acting projects. Some of his most famous films include The Jerk (1979), Father of the Bride (1991), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), Pink Panther (2006), It’s Complicated (2009), etc. Martin has also received many awards for his work, including an Honorary Academy Award, many Grammy Awards for his music, and a Primetime Emmy Award for his television writing. Along with his acting and comedy, Steve is a talented musician and author. He also knows how to play the banjo and has written many books, including novels and memoirs.

Steve Martin’s Wife

Steve Martin is married to Anne Stringfield. She was born in 1972 and grew up in Florida. She later moved to North Carolina. She went to Davidson College and also was a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society. She was a writer and former editor for The New Yorker magazine. They first met over the phone call, while fact-checking a comedy piece written by Steve Martin. They talked for a year over the phone before meeting each other in person. The couple met in the mid-2000s and got married in 2007 in a small and intimate wedding ceremony at their home. Their wedding was a surprise for all the guests. Many of Martin’s famous friends, including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton, attended the wedding.

Steve and Anne have a strong and loving relationship despite their 27-year age difference. Anne likes to keep a low profile. She has a great sense of humor, which is something she and Steve share. In an interview with People Marilyn in 2015, Steve described his relationship and said, “An important episode in my life. …She makes it all possible. She has one of the most important qualities a person can have, and that’s kindness.” The couple enjoys a quiet life away from Hollywood, spending time on creative projects and personal time.

Steve Martin and Anne Stringfield have one daughter, who was born in December 2012. Martin became a father for the first time at the age of 67. He has always been a private person, and he initially did not reveal his daughter's name to the public. Later, it was revealed her name was Mary. Steve and Anne have made sure to keep their child’s life away from the media so she can grow up in a normal and peaceful environment. In his documentary Steve! he said, “I think people understand you don’t want to show your kids on camera.”

Despite becoming a father later in life, Steve has often said that he enjoys parenthood and loves spending time with his daughter. In Martin's documentary, he shared the feeling when he welcomed his daughter and said, “The first time I saw true love in my life was after the baby was born...I looked over at Anne, and she’s holding the baby. And she’s looking into her face, and there’s no one else on the planet.” In 2013, during his speech at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards, he said, “My wife alone would have been enough reward for my life...but now she’s brought me a wonderful child.”
