Thunderbolts* will be released in the US on May 2, 2025.


The upcoming American superhero movie Thunderbolts* is based on the Thunderbolts team from Marvel Comics. It is set to be the 36th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is produced by Marvel Studios and published by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The movie is directed by Jake Schreier and scripted by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo.


A group of antiheroes go on government missions in the movie. Its cast features Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Wyatt Russell among others.


When is the Thunderbolts movie coming out?


Thunderbolts*, the last movie in Phase Five of the MCU, will be released in the US on May 2, 2025.


The film was revealed to be in production in June 2022 when Schreier and Pearson were brought on board. In September of the same year, the primary cast members of the movie were announced, and more casting was done until the beginning of 2023. Due to production delays brought on by the 2023 labor strikes in Hollywood, several actors left the movie, and Calo joined in early 2024. Trilith Studios and Atlanta Metro Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, held the production from February to June 2024. Additional filming was conducted in Utah.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is about a bunch of antiheroes who embark on government missions. The film features an extensive cast including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Pierce, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.


What is MCU Phase Five?


Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) includes all of the Marvel Studios films that were released between 2023 and mid-2025. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, and Thunderbolts* are among the Phase Five movies in the MCU. At the worldwide box office, the first four films in the phase have made nearly $2.8 billion.


The first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, the second season of the I Am Groot shorts, Secret Invasion, the second season of Loki, the second and third seasons of the animated What If...?, and Agatha All Along are among the Disney+ television series that are part of this phase. "The Multiverse Saga" comprises Phase Four, Phase Five, and Phase Six.
