Born on 13 May 1986, Pattinson began his career at the age of 18 by doing uncredited work in the film Vanity Fair by Mira Nair. Clueless about acting, Pattinson had done just one ‘amateur play’ during his school time, and next, he landed a role as Reese Witherspoon’s son in the 2004 film.

Yes, Robert Pattinson has time and again been vocal about the fact that he disliked his character Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. In fact, the actor has also mentioned that he found the film confusing and strange.

During an interview with Empire, the Batman star expressed confusion about women fangirling on Edward Cullen and shared his take on why he played the part the way he did. Pattinson said, "When you read the book, it's like, 'Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.' I mean, every line is like that.”

"He's (Edward Cullen) the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn't do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin, so he's obviously got some issues there,” Robert added.

In an interview with MTV, Robert Pattinson called Edward Cullen an ‘axe murderer'. While describing the character Pattinson said, “If Edward wasn’t a fictional character and you met him in reality he is like one of those guys who would probably be an axe murderer or something.”

Robert Pattinson has openly admitted that he would ‘mindlessly hate’ the film. Moviefone questioned Pattinson and his co-stars Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart whether or not they would be fans of Twilight had they not starred in the films. While Lautner and Kristen said yes, Robert’s answer stood out amongst the two.

Pattinson said, “The people who don’t like it are generally people who haven’t seen it, and they’re like all judgmental and stuff, and cynical people,” he began. Continuing on with a laugh the actor said, “But I think I am a judgemental and cynical person who would just mindlessly hate it without ever having seen anything.”
