Gary Oldman's parents were Leonard Bertram Oldman and Kathleen. He has two older siblings, Jacqueline Wyles and Maureen Lesley Bass.

Gary Oldman was born to Leonard Bertram Oldman, an ex-sailor, and Kathleen. In an interview, he revealed that his father was an alcoholic and left his family when Gary was only 7 years old. His father died in 1985. His mother, Kathleen, died at the age of 98 in June 2018. Oldman gave tribute to his mother on Instagram and wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kay Oldman, Mother of Gary Oldman, Jacqueline Wyles, and Maureen Lesley Bass. Kay was a woman of great talent and mirth, keeping her loved ones smiling with her quick wit and ready repartee until the end. For her family and friends, she was a source of warmth, inspiration, amusement, and support and she will be deeply missed."

In March 2018, he mentioned his mother in his acceptance speech when he won an Oscar for Darkest Hour (2017). He said, “I would like to thank my mother who is older than the Oscar – she is 99 years young next birthday and she is watching the ceremony from the comfort of her sofa." He added, “I want to say thank you my mother for your love and support, and get the kettle on. I’m bringing Oscar home."

She is a British actress, born on August 1, 1945, in Dorking, Surrey, England. She made her acting debut at the age of 51 with the film Nil by Mouth in 1997. She has worked on many projects like Great Expectations (1999), EastEnders (2000-Present), Hellboy (2019), etc.

Gary Oldman has 3 sons- Alfie, Gulliver, and Charlie. Alfie is his oldest son born in 1988, whom he shares with his ex-wife Lesley Manville. He co-parented Alfie with Lesley. Alfie has followed in his father’s footsteps, and in 2019, he made his acting debut in the student short film Compos Mentis. He has worked behind the cameras in many popular films like Maleficent, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hitman's Bodyguard.

Gulliver was born in 1997, and his youngest son, Charlie, was born in 1999, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Donya Fiorentino. He raised his sons, Gulliver and Charlie, on his own after winning sole custody of them following his split from Donya Fiorentino. Gulliver is an aspiring photographer and Charlie is a model who has worked with brands like Dolce & Gabbana. On the Drew Barrymore Show, Oldman talked about being a single parent and shared, “At 42 years old, I woke up divorced and I had custody of these boys and so that, in itself, was…That was hard because there was a shift in the industry where a lot of productions were being [filmed in], it was Hungary, Budapest, Prague, Australia, you know, all of these places.”

He added, “Thank God for Harry Potter, I tell you, the two — Batman and Harry Potter — really they saved me, because it meant that I could do the least amount of work for the most amount of money and then be home with the kids.” He talked about not giving enough time to his first son Alfie and said, “I got the opportunity to have these other two kids and I thought, ‘I can’t. I’ve now been given a real gift to be the dad I imagined I could be with the first boy, Alfie, and so I’ve got a chance to repair this and switch it around.’” He added, “My kids are not geniuses, but they’re really, really nice people."
