The American martial arts drama film Karate Kid: Legends is releasing theatrically in the United States and Canada on May 30, 2025. It premiered in Mexico City on May 8, 2025. The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber.


The Karate Kid movies follow the journey of growing-up teens who receive martial arts training from an experienced mentor to defend themselves after being bullied, or to establish their dominance over others.


Ben Wang will appear as the main lead, joining Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio also reprise their roles from the franchise. It is the first movie in the series that was not produced by the late Jerry Weintraub, who passed away in 2015.


When is Karate Kid: Legends releasing?


Karate Kid: Legends is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States and Canada on May 30, 2025. It is a sequel to the franchise's first movies and Cobra Kai, starring Macchio, and the 2010 Jackie Chan movie, combining them into a shared universe.


The film is set after the events of the television series Cobra Kai (2018–2025) and is the sixth installment in the Karate Kid franchise, after the 2010 movie of the same name. The film's development was officially confirmed in September 2022, with Lieber writing the screenplay in November 2023 and Entwistle directing.
