Who are Alice Hewkin’s family members?

Alice Hewkin is a Chinese-born British actress known for her acting in theatre, film, and TV shows. She was born on May 20, 1995, in Jiangsu Province, China, and later moved to Cambridge. She attended the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with a BA in Acting in 2014. She made her acting debut with the TV film Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars in 2007, where she played Tealeaf.

Hewkin made her film debut in 2017 with The Mummy, where she played a technician. She has worked in many TV shows like Game of Thrones (2014), Stella (2015-2016), Sex Education (2019), The Athena (2019), etc. She gained international popularity for her work in the show The Brothers Sun (2023), where she played the twins May and June Song. Hewkin was born in China and was adopted by a family from England. Her mother is Norwegian, and her father is British. In an interview with Galore Magazine, she talked about her cultural background and said, “Growing up with a Norwegian mother and British father, while having Chinese roots has been quite a cultural kaleidoscope and definitely interesting. In my acting, I’ve found that this diverse background allows me to bring richness and authenticity to my characters. I feel unique in that I was born in China, in Jiangsu Province, and adopted (fun fact, at 9 months I was the first baby to be adopted from China to Great Britain).”

Her parents have been supportive of her career since childhood. In an interview with Pop Culturalist, Hewkin shared that her father didn’t recognize her as May in the show The Brothers Sun. She said, “It’s funny because a lot of my friends and family who watched the show didn’t even recognize it was me when I was May because of the wardrobe, the accent, and how I moved. That was quite funny. Even my own dad did not recognize me!”

In the same interview, she shared that her mother has been a big influence in her life. She said, “My mom is a huge influence. This is a story about family, which is so universal. My own mom really inspires me, and I’m very close to her. She’s been so supportive of my career. I’m adopted, and I feel that could have gone one of two ways. She’s been so supportive in my close circle.” She further added, “Growing up, I always questioned whether this was possible, and my mom really inspired me to keep going.”

Alice Hewkin’s upcoming projects

Recently, Hewkin worked in the film The Amateur, where she played Ali Park. It was released in theatres on April 11, 2025. The cast of the film also includes Rami Malek, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel Brosnahan. In an interview with HeyUGuys on the premiere of the film, she talked about her experience of working on the film and said, “It was honestly one of the best productions I’ve worked on.”

She will be playing the role of a Sklarian Raider in the upcoming DC Studios film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Sklarian Raiders are a group of female pirates who travel through space. The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Hewkin is cast alongside Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. It is set to be released in the theatres on June 26, 2026.
