Dominic Zamprogna took to social media to confirm rumors that have been buzzing about for some time: he has decided to exit his role as General Hospital's Dante Falconeri.
"I feel I owe it to you awesome fans to tell you that I've taped my final scenes," Zamprogna shared on Twitter. "Going to miss you all and my GH fam. Good things happening tho. More to come."

Shortly after Zamprogna's announcement, his on-screen wife, Emme Rylan (Lulu Spencer), posted a message of her own. In it, Rylan said that she was "utterly heartbroken" to see Zamprogna go but excited to see where his next chapter would lead.

Zamprogna's on-screen dad also shared a message of love and support. "Always very sad for me when great actors and great friends leave the show," Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) shared on Instagram with a photo of he and Zamprogna embracing. "Dom was definitely at the top of that list was always looking forward to working with him didn't happen enough."
Brytni Sarpy (Valerie Spencer) took to Facebook to praise her former costar. "I've learned so much from this guy, from my screen test, to Vante scenes, to working at the PCPD," she shared. "Wishing you the caliber of luck that matches your insane talent on the screen!"

Zamprogna, who joined General Hospital in June 2009, taped his final scenes last month.
A General Hospital spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. It is unclear at this time if the role of Dante will be recast.
UPDATE (June 28, 2018): Zamprogna capped his General Hospital run with two social media posts. In one, the actor thanks fans for the "love you guys have given me over the years."
