Dr. Miranda Bailey, portrayed by Chandra Wilson, is one of the main characters in the American medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy. Chandra Danette Wilson, an American actress and director, plays the character of Dr. Miranda Bailey in Grey’s Anatomy. She has been the series’ regular since its debut in 2005. When Wilson tried out for the Grey's Anatomy pilot, she was still employed at a bank. Grey's Anatomy's seventh episode from season six, "Give Peace a Chance," marked Wilson's first time directing television. She also directed a few other episodes later in the show.

Wilson received Emmy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. In 2007, she was nominated for and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series. She also received a SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series with the cast of Grey's Anatomy.
