Dwight Schrute is Assistant to the Regional Manager at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin paper company. He has odd behavior and beliefs, that make him different from other employees. His loyalty towards Michael Scott led to many funny incidents. He had a rivalry with Jim Halpert and always competed with him to be a top salesman. Jim often planned pranks on Dwight, like putting his stapler in Jell-O or making him believe the CIA is recruiting him.


Dwight was raised on a beet farm, because of which he had knowledge of agriculture and enjoyed talking about his farming life. He was rigid and rude, but over the seasons, he formed friendships with his co-workers like Pam, Jim, and Angela. He was obsessed with authority and wanted to be the manager of the office. In the last season, he eventually achieves his dream of becoming Regional Manager of the Scranton branch.


Over the seasons, he was in an on and off relationship with Angela. They developed feelings for each other as they shared the same values, like discipline and authority. At first, they kept their relationship a secret, which led to many ups and downs. In the finale, Dwight and Angela finally get married and they also have a son named Philip.

Rainn Wilson plays Dwight in the show. He is an American actor, comedian, producer, and writer, born on January 20, 1966, in Seattle, Washington, United States. In 1986, he graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's degree in drama. He later attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he did his MFA in acting. He initially performed in theater before transitioning to TV and film.


He made his on-screen debut with the TV show One Life to Live in 1997. In 1999, he made his film debut with the film Galaxy Quest. He got his breakthrough role as Dwight in the hit sitcom The Office (2005-2013). He became a household name and received international popularity for this role. He received 3 Primetime Emmy nominations for his work in the show. Apart from The Office, he has worked in many TV shows like Backstrom (2015), Mom (2019-2021), Utopia (2020), Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss (2023), etc.


He has also worked in many films like Juno (2007), Super (2010), The Boy (2015), Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017), Ezra (2023), etc. In 2008, he co-founded a website and YouTube channel called SoulPancake. The channel currently has 3.43 million subscribers and has posted more than 1500 videos. In 2024, he also launched a podcast channel called Soul Boom w/ Rainn Wilson. He got married in 1995 to writer Holiday Reinhorn in Washington. The couple have a son, Walter, born in 2004.
