Jackson Avery is one of the central characters in Grey’s Anatomy.


Grey's Anatomy is a medical drama television drama created by Shonda Rhimes that aired its first episode on ABC on March 27, 2005. The show is set in Seattle, Washington, in the fictional Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and revolves around the lives of surgical interns, residents, and attendings as they develop their careers while dealing with personal challenges.


The series begins with Meredith Grey, daughter of renowned surgeon Ellis Grey, starting her surgical career being an intern and growing into a skilled general surgeon and eventually chief of general surgery. The show has an ensemble cast, including characters like Derek Shepherd, a neurosurgeon and Meredith’s love interest, Cristina Yang, Meredith’s best friend and an ambitious cardiothoracic surgeon, and Miranda Bailey, a mentor to many interns who rises to the role of Chief of Surgery. Throughout the series, the makers have introduced various medical cases, surgical innovations, and ethical dilemmas. Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running television medical drama in history.


Who is Jackson Avery in Grey's Anatomy?


Jackson Avery is known to be one of the central characters of Grey’s Anatomy. He was the former Head of Plastic Surgery and attending ENT at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and was one of the lead doctors who moved to this hospital from Mercy West Medical Center after the merger. In his career, Jackson was also shown to be a member of the board and the de facto board chairman.


In the series, Jackson Avery was initially married to April Kepner with whom he went on to have 2 kids - a daughter named Harriet Kepner-Avery and a son named Samuel Norbert Avery. Jackson and April’s son Samuel had tragically passed away after birth due to osteogenesis imperfecta type II. After this incident, the duo parted ways for some time until Jackson relocated to Boston to take over the Catherine Fox Foundation.

Who played the role of Jackson Avery in Grey’s Anatomy?


The character of Jackson Avery is played by American actor Jesse Wesley Williams. Apart from being an actor, Jesse is a director, producer, and activist. The actor played Jackson Avery in Grey’s Anatomy for a total of 14 years.


Jesse William’s first appearance as an actor was in the movie The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants in 2008. Apart from that he was credited for appearing in other movies like Question Bridge: Black Males, The Butler, Snake and Mongoose, Money, Band Aid, Jacob's Ladder, Two Distinct Strangers, Secret Headquarters, and many more.


Apart from Grey’s Anatomy, the actor has been credited for working on various television shows like Law & Order, Geek, Sesame Street, The Spoils Before Dying, Power, Station 19, and many more. For his dedication and hard work in the industry, Jesse was awarded TV Actor of the Year at the 2011 Young Hollywood Awards and was also nominated for the Tony Award under the category of Best Featured Actor in a Play.
