Fox TV’s The Simpsons is one of the longest-running sitcoms in America. Starting in 1989, the animated sitcom still manages to hold an audience and was recently renewed for four more seasons.

Who was Larry in The Simpsons?

Lawrence “Larry” Dalrymple was a supporting character in The Simpsons. He was one of the barflies at Moe’s Tavern, a local bar in the town of Springfield, where the show is set. Larry was forty-two years old, and he mainly appeared as a background character in the show. Larry was the tallest of the barflies, and he used to wear a red jacket. There are only two episodes of The Simpsons where Larry actually spoke. In one of those episodes, “Bart Gets Hit by a Car”, Phil Hartman did the voice acting for the character who was catcalling Marge Simpson when she came to Moe’s Tavern.

Is Larry dead?

Larry Dalrymple died in The Simpsons’ fifteenth episode of the thirty-fifth season, titled Cremains of the Day. Although he died at the very beginning of the episode and didn't have a dialogue, the audience finally got to know a lot of things about him. Larry’s last name, Dalrymple, was finally revealed. His mother, Iris Dalrymple, was also introduced. Larry never really had any interaction with the main characters of The Simpsons, but he was still an integral part of the show.

In Larry’s funeral, the main characters of the show also realize that they never really knew the man that well, despite him being an integral part of their lives. When Marge asked Homer why he never tried to get to know Larry, Homer responded that Larry was someone who never really fit in their circle of bros. The co-runner of the episode, Tim Long, apologized to fans of The Simpsons for the killing of Larry, but he mentioned that the death of Larry was still impactful, no matter how small the character was.
