The character of Beverly is portrayed as a neuroscientist, who is also a psychiatrist and author, in The Big Bang Theory series. Beverly was married to Alfred Hofstadter (Leonard’s father), but their relationship ended in a divorce as the two lost love between them.

During her career in Hollywood, she has also appeared on various television shows. She had a recurring character appearance in The Big Bang Theory, as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter. Her other television appearances included the role of Faith Clancy in “Ghost Whisperer", Newport Heiress in “Family Guy", and Agnes van Rhijn in “The Gilded Age”, among others.
