David sobbed as he held Babe's lifeless body on the roof of the hospital. He told his daughter that he came back to save her from JR, but he was too late. Krystal found David and he yelled at her to leave him alone. Krystal told David that he had to let Babe go. He lashed out at Krystal and blamed her for Babe's death, since she allowed Babe to be with JR. Krystal explained that Babe and JR were finally happy and she encouraged David to find solace in that. He yelled that Krystal "fed" Babe to the Chandlers, which resulted in their daughter's death. She screamed back that she lost Babe, too. David then agreed to bring Babe back into the hospital with Krystal.

David carried Babe in his arms as Krystal walked beside him. As they got off the elevator, they passed JR, Adam, Bianca, and Tad. Tad demanded that David hand Babe to him, but Krystal told Tad to let David hold her. David placed Babe on a hospital bed and Krystal covered her with a sheet. David and Krystal cried as everyone watched. Krystal told David that she understood his grief, but she asked him to leave because his presence was upsetting everyone else. David then leaped for JR and began to choke him. David declared that JR killed Babe. Tad and Adam pulled David off of JR. Adam called for security guards and had David arrested. As David was hauled away by the guards, he threatened to get revenge on the Chandlers because Babe's blood was on their hands.

David was put into jail. An officer said that he would be released once he posted bail. David swore that he was going to kill JR when he got out.

Aidan watched as Greenlee held Bianca's baby in the nursery. He commented that he had pictured Greenlee holding a baby many times. She began to mourn their failed marriage, but he felt that there was no point discussing it. She then asked Aidan to put his animosity aside and help Ryan find Emma. He looked annoyed and left the nursery.

Annie and Ryan found a note in their penthouse that read, "Don't go to the police or your child is dead!" Ryan did not care what the note said; he wanted to get the police involved. Annie pleaded with him to follow the kidnapper's demands. Aidan then entered the penthouse and offered his help. Annie and Ryan explained the situation. Aidan suggested that he make contact with Jesse because he assumed the kidnappers were watching Annie and Ryan to make sure that they did not get the police involved.

Aidan found Jesse at the hospital and slipped him a note that detailed Emma's kidnapping. The note also asked Jesse to meet Ryan in the stairwell for a secret meeting.

Ryan was on his way to meet Jesse when he received a phone call from the kidnapper. The kidnapper said that he made a big mistake by going to the police. Ryan looked nervous. When he met Jesse, Jesse asked if the kidnapper made contact with him and Ryan said no.

Zach was furious with Jake over Kendall's condition. Zach pushed Jake and did not realize that Taylor was behind him. Zach fell off balance and accidentally knocked Taylor down a flight of stairs. After the fall, Taylor was unconscious.

Jake and Frankie rushed Taylor into a hospital bed. They determined that Taylor had injured her spine. When Taylor woke up, they checked her reflexes and she could not feel her feet. She looked scared and asked if the paralysis was permanent. Jake and Frankie explained that she would probably regain feeling in her feet when the swelling reduced around her spine. She then tried to stand up, but collapsed. Jake and Frankie tried to help her and she yelled at them to get away.

Adam and Bianca received word that Erica was being brought into the hospital. They saw a woman wheeled in on a stretcher with a sheet over her head. They noticed the woman had dark hair, like Erica, so they assumed that the dead woman was Erica. Adam exclaimed, "Damn it Erica, we could have had it all!" Suddenly, Erica appeared and asked Adam if he was disappointed that she did not die, since she knew his "dirty little secret." Erica then saw Bianca and hugged her daughter. Erica was relieved to see Bianca was safe, but was shocked to see her in Pine Valley.

Erica asked Bianca how the rest of their family was doing. Bianca reported that Zach, Ian, and Spike were fine, but Kendall was in the ICU. Bianca explained that Kendall saved her and the boys from the tornado, but she was unable to save herself. Bianca stated that Kendall had a skull fracture, which Jake operated on. Bianca sadly announced that Kendall seized at the end of the surgery and went into a coma. Erica affirmed that Kendall would wake up for her.

Erica sat by Kendall's side and encouraged her to wake up. Erica told her daughter that she was right all along; Adam tainted Bella. Erica urged Kendall to get up, so they could get revenge on Adam. Kendall remained in the coma.

Erica comforted Zach and promised him that Kendall would recover. She stated that Zach was the strongest man she knew and he would make sure that Kendall came back to her family. She further stated that she and Bianca would help him every step of the way. He smiled and they embraced. She wondered where Bianca was, so Zach commented that she was probably with the baby. Erica looked confused.

Erica rushed to the nursery after she learned about her granddaughter. Bianca saw Erica holding her baby and smiled. Bianca was very sad over Babe's death. She wished that she had forgiven Babe sooner. Erica reminded Bianca that she forgave Babe for many indiscretions that most people would never forgive. Bianca was regretful that her newborn would never know Babe.

Erica inquired why Bianca did not tell her about the pregnancy. Bianca said that she wanted to have the baby with her family, which was why she returned home. Bianca planned on announcing her pregnancy upon her arrival, but the storm ruined her plans. Erica asked who the father was and Bianca was reluctant to answer. Erica affirmed that she would find out eventually, so Bianca admitted it was Zach. Bianca noted that Zach was a good choice because he was the best man that she knew and he was Miranda's uncle. Bianca explained that Zach agreed to father the child when he spent time with her and Reese in France. Bianca declared that Reese was the love of her life. Erica wondered if Kendall knew. Bianca confessed that she did not tell Kendall because she was worried that her sister would have stopped Zach from donating his sperm. Erica looked concerned.

Bianca went to Kendall's room and found Zach sitting by her sister's side. Bianca encouraged Zach to go home and get rest. He refused to leave the hospital and stated that he would not leave Kendall until she woke up.

Bianca and her baby girl were discharged from the hospital while Kendall remained in a coma. Inside Kendall's room, Greenlee insisted Zach go home to take care of his sons. She promised to stay with Kendall while he was gone. Jackson stopped Bianca and the baby before she made it out of the hospital. He congratulated her and asked how Kendall was holding up. Bianca said Kendall's condition had not changed. Jackson went to see Kendall while Zach chatted with Bianca. Bianca said Reese and Miranda were on their way to Pine Valley, but she did not know where they would stay. Originally, Bianca wanted to rent a house on the beach, but the tornado blew away that option. Zach said Bianca and her family could stay with him. They went home, but received a call from Greenlee saying Kendall's heart had stopped.

Angie told Natalia that her surgery had gone well, but the blood supply to one of her ovaries had been cut off for a period of time and there had been some irreparable damage. Natalia indicated that the possibility of not being able to have children wasn't a concern. She said that she did not want children because she didn't want to have to take on the responsibility of raising a child by herself. When questioned by Angie why she'd have to go it alone, Natalia's response showed some of her mental scars that had not yet healed. "If the father left, the way mine did," Natalia replied. Natalia said she sought out Jesse because her mother was in bad shape. Natalia asked if Angie could examine her mother when she came to visit. Angie said she would see what she could do to help Natalia's mother. Angie noticed a woman walking down the hall. The woman briefly glanced at Angie. Angie asked if the woman was Rebecca, Natalia's mother. Rebecca instantly said, "It's you. You're Angie." Angie directed Rebecca to Natalia's room. Rebecca found Natalia, who insisted her mother talk to Jesse. Natalia said Rebecca had hardly dragged herself out of bed since Jesse left. Rebecca said Natalia had no right to disrupt Jesse's life. Rebecca thanked Angie for taking such good care of Natalia. She apologized for causing any problems with Angie's family. Angie said Natalia's appearance actually cleared up a few things for her. Rebecca said she had no plans to see Jesse while in town.

Ryan received a call from Emma's kidnapper. The kidnapper told Ryan he was smart for not going to the police. The kidnapper asked Ryan to meet him at a hotel, and hung up. Jesse stopped by the house as Annie and Ryan were leaving. Jesse said he had no new leads in Emma's disappearance, but noticed Ryan and Annie's strange behavior. Jesse suspected the kidnapper spoke to Ryan and Annie and convinced them to stay away from police. Jesse encouraged Ryan and Annie to call him if they heard anything from the kidnapper. After Jesse left, Annie wondered if the kidnapper would really return Emma. They went to the kidnapper's requested meeting spot and found Aidan. Aidan said he tapped Ryan's phone to help find Emma. Annie said Aidan's help was no longer needed. Aidan showed Ryan and Annie a tape to prove that the kidnapper had already been to the hotel room. The tape showed Emma, who appeared healthy, in a room. She asked for Annie. The words "TEN MILLION DOLLARS" flashed across the front of the screen.

Krystal visited David in jail. David said he would likely hurt JR or Adam if he ever got released. Krystal said Babe and JR had been happy, but David insisted that the Chandlers were the reason Babe was dead. Krystal told David he could not bring back their daughter. Krystal offered to post David's bail if he left Pine Valley. David refused Krystal's offer and had no plans to leave town. David said he might not have been the best father to Babe, but she made him a better person. Krystal said David could prove he was a better man by leaving the Chandlers alone. David promised Krystal he would leave Pine Valley, unless he ran into Adam or JR. Krystal said Babe would thank David if she were alive.

Adam gave Pete a one-way ticket to London. Adam said he had told Erica he was responsible for the Bella poisoning while they were trapped together. Although Erica was distracted with Kendall's health condition, Adam knew it was only a matter of time before she came after him for ruining Fusion. Adam told Pete that he was safer being away from Pine Valley. Pete asked Adam if he could say goodbye to Colby before taking off. Adam suggested Pete send Colby an email, and shoved him out the door.

Colby asked JR if he had booze in his glass. JR said he poured the alcohol out before even taking a sip. JR said he wanted Babe back in his life. Colby reminded JR that he should be thankful for the time spent with Babe. JR went to see Little Adam at Tad's house. Tad gave JR and Little Adam some time alone. JR explained that Babe was in heaven with angels, and would not be coming home. JR told Tad that Little Adam did not understand Babe had died. Tad said he was proud of JR for being a wonderful father and man. Tad said JR and Little Adam were welcome to stay with him and Krystal as long as needed. JR said Little Adam kept asking about his grandfather, Adam, and he still had to deal with David's return. Krystal came home and said she had convinced David to leave town once he was released from jail. Tad and JR thought David was lying to Krystal.

Pete found Colby outside. He told Colby that Erica knew Adam had tainted the Bella perfume, and that Adam had suggested Pete leave town for his own good. Colby said Adam wanted Pete gone so he could blame the entire Bella disaster on him. Colby confronted her father on the issue. She told Adam that he needed to own up to his mistakes with Bella. JR brought Little Adam to the Chandler mansion for a quick visit. After Pete took Little Adam to the kitchen, JR said he was tired of fighting with Adam. JR said he forgave Adam, but still did not trust him. Adam tore up the plane tickets he had given to Pete. He took a plate of cookies outside to Little Adam and Pete. Instead, Colby, JR, and Adam found David holding Little Adam.

Krystal and Tad visited Babe's casket at the funeral home.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Adam and JR were startled to find David playing with Little Adam in the backyard of the Chandler mansion. JR calmly told his son to get cookies in the kitchen to get him away from David. After the boy was gone, JR warned David to stay away from his son. David laughed and announced that he was suing for full custody of Little Adam. Adam and JR were appalled by the idea of David raising Little Adam. David stated that he had a right to his grandson. JR affirmed that no judge would ever give David custody, but David disagreed. Adam told David to leave his home or he would have his security team "permanently remove" David. David slyly smiled and left.

Krystal saw David leaving the mansion and inquired why he was there. Adam and JR relayed to Krystal that David planned on suing for custody of Little Adam. She was shocked, but worried that David might be able to win custody. JR felt that no judge would grant David a child. She reminded JR that he was a drug-abusing alcoholic with a violent record, but David was never charged with many of the crimes he committed. She feared that David looked better on paper than JR, so a judge might give Little Adam to his grandfather. Adam yelled at Krystal because he thought that her concerns were irrational. Adam and JR both thought up schemes to thwart David's plans. Krystal suggested that they work as a united front to ward off David. JR agreed to work with his father for Little Adam's sake; however, JR refused to stay at the mansion. Adam was disappointed that JR decided to stay with Krystal and Tad instead of him.

Zach and Bianca rushed to the hospital after Greenlee called them to report that Kendall's heart had stopped. Zach, Bianca, Greenlee, and Erica listened as Joe explained Kendall's condition. Joe said that the coma was putting stress on Kendall's heart. Kendall needed to undergo heart surgery as soon as possible. Erica told Joe to proceed with the surgery, but Joe said that their top-notch heart surgeon was not available due to the tornado. Joe offered to have another surgeon do the surgery. Erica insisted on having the best surgeon for her daughter and she announced that she had a plan.

David went to the funeral home to visit Babe. David spoke to his dead daughter about Little Adam. He gushed about how much the boy grew since he last saw him. David said that he wanted to make up for lost time with Little Adam. He promised Babe that he would care for Little Adam and give him a great life. He wished that he knew Babe when she was a little girl, so he could tell Little Adam stories about his mother. He resented Krystal for not telling him that he had a daughter until Babe was an adult. He swore that he would take Little Adam on vacations and do all of the things with his grandson that he should have done with Babe.

Erica found David in the funeral home. She told him that Kendall was in danger and needed his help. He was annoyed that she ruined his private moment with Babe. Erica asked him to perform heart surgery on Kendall. He reminded her that he was grieving for his daughter. Erica said that she understood David's grief and she begged him to help Kendall, so she would not have to grieve her daughter as well. He asked what she would do to return the favor. She realized that he needed something and she agreed to help him in any way that she could.

Krystal arrived at the hospital to visit Opal. As Krystal walked to Opal's room, she saw David checking on Kendall. Krystal asked David why he did not leave town. He told her that he was Kendall's surgeon. Krystal urged him to leave town, but he was adamant on staying so he could sue for custody of Little Adam.

Krystal found Erica and inquired how David became Kendall's surgeon. Erica explained that Kendall needed the best surgeon, which was David. Krystal assumed that Erica promised David something in return. Erica told Krystal to worry about her own family and to mind her own business.

Joe was assuring Zach and Bianca that the surgeon he had on staff would be able to help Kendall. Just then, Erica and David entered the room. Erica revealed that David was going to perform the surgery. Joe was against the idea because he thought that David should not be allowed to practice medicine. Erica did not care about David' indiscretions, because she knew he was a great surgeon. Zach uneasily consented to having David as the surgeon.

Bianca tried to console David about Babe's death. She said that she was sorry for his loss. He somberly thanked her and walked away. Zach then grabbed David. Zach warned David not to mess with Kendall. David slyly stated that after he saved Kendall's life, Zach and Kendall were going to owe him.

Zach sat with Kendall as Bianca tried to comfort him. Zach worried that Kendall's heart stopped beating because he left the hospital. Bianca assured him that it was not his fault. She further stated that Kendall would have wanted him to go home to see their kids. Zach admitted that they had been fighting for months. Bianca claimed that Kendall told her she was happy with their marriage, but she was lying. Bianca then recalled her encounter with Kendall before the tornado hit. Bianca remembered Kendall saying that her marriage to Zach was in trouble.

David went into the operating room. He looked at Kendall and laughed as he stated that her life was in his hands.

Ryan and Annie arrived at the hotel room that the kidnapper told them to go to. When they arrived, they found Aidan in the room. Aidan said that by the time he got there, the kidnapper was gone. But, the kidnapper left a laptop. They opened the laptop and saw a video of Emma playing. Then, a request for ten million dollars flashed across the screen. Aidan began to suggest different ways to handle the situation, but Ryan refused any help from Aidan.

Aidan went to see Greenlee. He told her that Ryan was being stubborn and would not accept his help. Greenlee said that she would talk to Ryan.

Ryan and Annie were at their penthouse trying to free up their funds to pay the kidnapper. Ryan could only get two million dollars immediately. She suggested that they ask Zach or Erica for a loan, but Ryan did not want to bother them while they were dealing with Kendall. Then, Greenlee arrived. Annie asked Greenlee if they could have eight million dollars, and she agreed.

Annie fell asleep on the couch while Ryan and Greenlee went to the bank. When Ryan and Greenlee returned, they went onto the balcony to talk, so they would not wake Annie. Ryan said that he wanted peace for everyone in Pine Valley, especially them. Annie woke up and looked annoyed when she noticed Ryan and Greenlee on the balcony together.

Krystal pored through Babe's baby photos before heading to Babe's funeral. JR walked into the room and said they would say goodbye to Babe together. Little Adam came downstairs as Krystal and Tad went to get dressed for the funeral. Little Adam asked when Babe was coming home from heaven. JR said Babe was not coming home, but she was watching over them with the other angels in heaven.

Pete met Colby at her home before the funeral. Adam told them he wanted to attend Babe's funeral, but Colby thought it was a bad idea. She said Adam would stay home if he had any respect for JR. Colby added that Adam didn't even like Babe. Adam said he would not cause any problems at the funeral. He gave Colby stuffed animals for Little Adam to hold onto at the funeral. She said Adam could go and give Little Adam the gifts himself.

Amanda brought flowers to Taylor at the hospital before going to Babe's funeral. Taylor threw the flowers on the floor and demanded Amanda get out of her room.

Annie, Greenlee, and Ryan anxiously awaited another phone call from Emma's kidnapper. Greenlee told Ryan and Annie they needed to get help from the police. Annie reminded Greenlee that the kidnapper would kill Emma if police were involved. The kidnapper called Ryan and told him where to drop off the $10 million ransom. Ryan wanted to know where to find Emma. The kidnapper said Ryan would get instructions about Emma after dropping off the money. Ryan suggested they put a tracking device with the money to follow the kidnapper. After Ryan left, Annie accused Greenlee of wanting Emma dead to get closer to Ryan. Greenlee decided to wait for Ryan in the hall. Annie grabbed a duffel bag and snuck out of the house. Ryan returned with the tracking device, but immediately went after Annie after discovering she was gone.

Bianca hugged David when he came to check on Kendall. David told Zach that Kendall's chances of waking up soon were slim. He said Kendall had sustained severe head trauma and her prior head injuries also decreased the chances of a full recovery. Bianca followed David outside of Kendall's room. She scolded him for being so mean to Zach while Kendall was suffering. Bianca told David that if Babe were in Kendall's position, he would have been much kinder. Bianca said she would see David at Babe's funeral, but David was not going. He said it was just an opportunity for the Chandlers to put on another one of their shows.

Bianca left the hospital to feed her new baby before Babe's funeral. Zach told Joe that the staff needed to keep a close eye on Kendall after a specialist performed another surgery on her. Jake told Zach that Kendall would have bled to death without his help. Also, Jake reminded Zach that Taylor might never walk again after Zach accidentally pushed her down the stairs. Jake told his father that he could resign from the hospital. Joe said Jake could feel sorry for himself or help Taylor get back on her feet. Zach apologized to Taylor and offered to pay all her medical expenses. Taylor said she didn't need Zach's money to make his conscience clear. Even seeing Jake did not cheer Taylor up. Jake said Taylor needed to fight, but she wanted to give up.

Babe's family and friends gathered together for her funeral. Adam handed the stuffed animals to Little Adam. Stuart said that Babe always knew how to brighten his days. He presented a painting of Babe to Krystal. Krystal said Babe showed her the true meaning of love. JR told the audience that Babe taught him to be a better man. JR scooped Little Adam up in his arms, walked him to Babe's casket, and let Little Adam say goodbye to his mother.

David and a realtor went to look at property for David to lease. He decided to take the old Wildwind estate that was once home to Maria and Edmund Grey. He took a few swigs of alcohol as others remembered Babe at her funeral. David pulled a gun out of his medical bag.

After the funeral, Bianca went to Zach's home with her baby. A little girl, dressed as a pink puppy, showed up at the door for Halloween. The little girl lifted up her mask and Bianca saw Miranda was the trick-or-treater standing before her. Reese stepped out of the bushes and hugged Bianca. Bianca introduced the baby to Reese. Reese held the baby in her arms as Zach walked in. Reese thanked Zach for taking care of Bianca and the baby.

Pete took Colby home after the funeral. She told him that Babe's funeral made her realize how short life could be. She ran up to Pete and kissed him. Pete pulled away. He said that she needed a friend, not a boyfriend, more than anything.

Krystal and Tad took Little Adam home. JR said he would meet them at the cemetery. Once alone, JR opened the casket to look at Babe. He slipped a wedding band on his hand and pronounced wedding vows to her. Then, he slipped a band on her finger and almost shut the casket, but then David showed up. David told JR he needed to say goodbye to Babe, too. David took a bottle of booze out of his jacket and handed it to JR. JR broke it against Babe's coffin and held the sharp glass against David's throat. JR said he would not let David bring him down.

Annie took the bag to the kidnapper's location alone. She went inside the apartment and a gun went off.

As Zach looked on, Bianca reunited with Reese and Miranda, and the latter two had the opportunity to meet the newest addition to the family. All of the adults agreed that the baby needed a name, and Reese offered one that she had thought of on the flight - Dylan. Bianca seemed less than enthused even though she tried to be supportive. Reese, who saw right through the effort, asked for her girlfriend's suggestion. Bianca shared the name Gabrielle and, much to her delight, Reese approved. Bianca then took her oldest child back to bed, which allowed Reese to ask what the birth had been like. Zach confessed that in the moment, his fear made him forget a lot of his training, but that things went smoothly enough and Gabrielle had emerged almost effortlessly. Bianca returned then, so Zach decided that he would head back to the hospital. After he left, the two women agreed how hard it was to see this man they cared about in so much pain.

They kicked back on the couch for a moment and Reese voiced that she wouldn't have known what to do if it had been Bianca that had gotten so severely hurt. Bianca quieted her fears and told her to focus on the fact that she'd gotten through okay. Then Reese asked if they should pack their things and head over to a suite at the Valley Inn so that they wouldn't be in Zach's hair, but Bianca said that they shouldn't leave Zach alone. Reese was worried that their entire family underfoot would be too much to handle, but Bianca easily convinced her that support from his family was exactly what Zach needed.

Reese then decided that the time was right for a surprise and gave Bianca a large envelope. When she opened it, Bianca found all of the plans and drawings for a new house. She realized that the house was the result of the "difficult client" Reese had been working with. Reese delivered surprise number two when she revealed that the house had already been built. Bianca was overcome with emotion, as no one had ever done anything of that magnitude for her. To top it all off, Reese then presented Bianca with a gift that she had planned to give her the moment their daughter entered the world. She took Bianca on a brief trip down memory lane and explained just how long she'd been in love. As Bianca sat entranced by Reese's words, she finally heard the ones she'd been waiting for when Reese asked if Bianca would marry her. As the tears flowed from both of their eyes, Bianca accepted and they sealed it with a kiss.

At the funeral home, JR held a broken bottle's jagged edge to David's throat, and confronted the doctor with his suspicions that his offer of alcohol was something that could be used against JR in a custody battle. David claimed to have forgotten that detail, but JR knew better. He threatened to end David's life at that moment, and the doctor dared the young man to follow through. JR decided that he was man enough not to give David the satisfaction, and David called him a coward. JR denied that claim and said that he still had his son to live for. David reminded him that he had plans to take custody of Little A, and JR angrily warned David against even considering it. He then told David that his main problem with JR was that he had been able to prove himself to Babe where David had failed. JR itemized David's failures and said that his ruined relationships with his daughter and ex-wife, Anna, topped the list. He sealed his rant of humiliation with a prediction that if David were allowed a relationship with Little A, he would end up destroying that, as well.

Krystal arrived in the chapel and broke the tension by urging JR to go home, as his son really needed him. He asked if Krystal planned to go with him, but she told him that she needed to stay and talk to David. JR was unsure if that was the right thing to do, but Krystal assured him that she would be fine. When the young man vacated the premises, David dryly asked if she'd come to him with another suggestion about leaving town. When Krystal confirmed that the sooner he left town, the better, he told her that he would be gone before she knew it. He then thanked her for the gift of a daughter that she gave to him, and turned to say a final goodbye to the second child he'd been forced to bury.

Ryan and Greenlee arrived at the shady apartment where they had been ordered to deliver the money. Ryan demanded that Greenlee stay in the hall while he checked out the situation inside. Once he entered the place and turned on the light, he was alarmed at what he saw before him. He rushed over to an unconscious Annie, who slowly returned to consciousness as he found and checked a bullet wound in her arm. Greenlee came in from the hall as he grabbed a rag and tried to wrap it tightly enough to stop the bleeding. Annie tried to tell them what had happened as she winced weakly from the pain, and soon after, Ryan took off to try to find the perpetrator. Annie then appeared to take on much more strength when she bellowed that Greenlee shouldn't call the police until Emma was found, and knocked Greenlee's phone out of her hand. Greenlee lashed out at Annie, said that she had destroyed their only chance of getting help, and told her that she would go to the police if Ryan didn't return soon. Annie berated Greenlee for only caring about Ryan and informed her that even though Ryan was infatuated with her, the loves of his life would always be his children.

Ryan returned in short order and revealed that he had found the mask the assailant had been wearing, as well as motorcycle tracks headed east. Annie immediately broke down and wailed that they needed to find their daughter. They attempted to rush out and do just that, but Annie's knees buckled and Ryan was barely able to keep her from collapsing to the floor. When he picked her up and insisted that they were going to the hospital, Annie offered no resistance.

Jesse asked Frankie for an update on his daughter, but his son harshly told him to check with the doctor assigned to Natalia's case, and stormed off. Jesse then headed to Natalia's room and was surprised to find his wife within, bonding not only with the patient, but also with Rebecca - Natalia's mother. He hesitantly asked when she had arrived, but his shock over finding out that she had arrived a day earlier paled in comparison to how taken aback he was when Angie told him that she and Rebecca had been getting to know each other. Jesse was still uncomfortable with the situation and tried to ease the tension by refocusing on his daughter. Angie told him that Natalia had recovered nicely and would be released before the end of the day. Natalia piped up and reminded her father that he and Rebecca needed to talk before Natalia and Rebecca left town. Rebecca interrupted and apologized that their presence had caused such emotional pain, and then assured them that she wasn't depressed. Natalia called her mother out as a liar.

Rebecca swore that she was fine and that she knew what she had gotten into when she got involved with Jesse. She noted that she was grateful for the chance to visit Pine Valley, as she got to meet Angie, but then said that she had accepted what had to be. She said she needed to find out the status of Natalia's discharge papers and went to the nearest medical station. She started to ask for the information she sought, but quickly saw Frankie's last name on his badge, and introduced herself. Frankie's friendly demeanor changed when he found out who the woman was. Before he walked away, he apologized and told her that he was unable to help her.

JR returned to the mansion, found his son, and assured him that although Babe couldn't be with them, she would have wanted them to carry on the traditions of Halloween. JR then noticed that Babe hadn't been able to finish sewing her son's costume, so he promised Little A that, with some help from Tad, they would finish it so that they could do what Babe would have wanted. A short time later, after Tad had done a poor job of finishing off the costume, Little A, Kathy, and Jenny were ready to trick-or-treating. JR donned a clown nose and, after Tad hugged him and told him that Babe would have been proud of him, JR and the children took off to canvas the neighborhood.

Tad went to the funeral home and found his wife at she sat quietly near Babe's casket. She told him that David had left only moments before and assured him that he had no need to worry. She told him that David had thanked her, and that, although she knew David loved his daughter, she didn't know how much until that moment.

Zach got to the hospital and encountered Father Clarence in Kendall's room. After he ascertained that the priest had come to the wrong room, he barely blinked an eye when the man seemed to know what had gone on before with Zach and Kendall. Zach easily blamed the doctors for Kendall's state but Father Clarence remarked that the tornado might have had something to do with it. When Zach made the assertion that Kendall's coma was an act of God, he admitted that an entity that continued to push until there was no choice but to give in didn't seem like a god to him. Rather, he pointed out, it seemed like something his father would have done, and he noted that he would never kneel for anyone like that again. Unruffled, the priest reminded Zach that he needed to have faith that the higher power listened, and would provide.

Zach visited the hospital chapel and thought back on his proposal and marriage to Kendall, then kneeled down in an attempt to pray. As he sent silent words out, Kendall began to show signs of consciousness when she moved her finger.

Jesse caught up with Frankie in the hall and was immediately assaulted by his son's angry words. He didn't have an opportunity to try to explain himself before Frankie unleashed his feelings over Jesse cheating on both him and Angie for twenty years, and had been the father he'd had to grow up without to someone else. Angie came out into the hall and tried to get her son to calm down, but for her efforts, she only got disdain. Frankie, who couldn't believe that his mother could be so understanding, simply told his father that Jessee and his actions were disgusting, and then walked away.

Frankie reported that Annie had been lucky that the gunshot avoided the major arteries when it passed through her arm, and then informed her that he was obligated to report all gunshot wounds to the police. Ryan told him that it happened accidentally and Annie begged them not to contact the police. Ryan caved in with the belief they could no longer do things alone, so Greenlee offered to get in touch with Jesse. Frankie said that his father was in the hospital, so Greenlee took off to find him. Once Frankie exited the room, Ryan's phone rang and he found the kidnapper on the other end. Ryan cut to the chase and demanded that since the kidnapper had the money, he should return Emma. The kidnapper warned Ryan that he needed to pay close attention, as he would only give directions once.

Angie and Jesse walked into a waiting room as she told him that she would talk to their son and get him to apologize. Jesse indicated that it wasn't necessary, because he wondered, as his son did, why she wasn't more upset about Rebecca's arrival. Angie told him that in their time apart, she had been with other men and married to one, and that the only difference was that she believed him to be dead. She went on to say that Rebecca had helped her to understand that Jesse had lied to protect them, and was able to relate the hard times that Jesse went through while he was away. She told him that she had been through all of the hard emotions and truly understood why Jesse had done things the way he had. In addition, she recognized that if it weren't for Rebecca, Jesse might not have made it home to her and Frankie.

After he returned to Wildwind, David continued to drown his sorrows with alcohol. He was shaken out of his stupor when Babe appeared to him and told him that she was happy where she was because she would rid herself of all the pain she'd felt while alive. She told him that he would be happy where she was, as well, because they would be together, and held her hand out to him. He instinctively reached back, but before their hands could touch, she disappeared. To lose her again was almost too much to bear, and David succumbed to his tears.

Rebecca busied herself as she packed Natalia's things when she insisted that what Natalia attributed to her mother's depression was really deflected anger over Jesse's departure from their family. Natalia refused to let her mother pull a shrink routine on her, and asserted that despite her mother's brave face, they would return home and the cycle of depression would start again. Angie came in at the tail end and, nervous, Rebecca said that she wanted to get Natalia checked out so that they could get back on the road. However, when she asked Angie to see about expediting the process, she grew weak and collapsed at her daughter's bedside.

JR returned home with the kids after they completed their rounds of the neighborhood houses while across town, David loaded his gun and contemplated using it to join his daughter. Krystal showed up and begged him not to go through with it.

Greenlee found Jesse, but when they arrived back at Annie's room, they found that Ryan and his estranged wife had disappeared from the scene.
