Eric Stonestreet’s journey toward success has been quite unconventional and inspiring. Born and raised in Kansas City, he grew up helping out on his family’s farm with no real intention of pursuing a career in Hollywood. His earliest dream was to become a clown. He planned to follow his vision and auditioned twice at the Barnum and Bailey Clown College, though he was not accepted. Eventually, he enrolled at Kansas State University to study sociology, aiming for a career as a prison administrator.

A friend’s dare and a minor role in a college production of “Prelude to a Kiss” unexpectedly led him to acting. He moved to Chicago and trained with prestigious improv groups like Improv Olympic and The Second City. His early television appearances included roles in shows like “ER (2000),” “Spin City (2000),” and “Malcolm in the Middle (2000).” His breakout came with a recurring role on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2001-2005).” But it was his portrayal of Cameron Tucker on ABC’s “Modern Family (2009-2020)” that brought him mainstream fame.
