The French filmmaker Jacques Audiard was married to the French director and screenwriter Marion Vernoux. They have three children together. Their relationship hasn’t been in the eyes of the public, hence a lot is still unknown regarding their marriage and divorce.


Vernoux was born in Montreuil, Seine-Saint-Denis, and was the only child of a set decorator and a casting director. She made her debut as co-director of the music video for Florent Pagny's song "N'importe quoi" in 1988 after working as a production assistant for several years. Inspired by her personal experiences, she penned the film Pacific Palisades in 1990. Her first feature picture, Pierre qui roule, was released in 1991 and earned positive reviews from critics. She won the President of the Italian Senate's Gold Medal for her 1999 picture Empty Days, which was entered into the main competition at the 56th Venice Picture Festival.

The son of film director and screenwriter Michel Audiard and Marie-Christine Guibert, Jacques Audiard was born in Paris. In the 1980s, he started writing screenplays for movies like Saxo, Réveillon chez Bob!, Mortelle randonnée, Baxter, and Fréquence Meurtre.


After directing his first feature film, See How They Fall (1994), Audiard went on to direct Rust and Bone (2012), The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005), and Read My Lips (2001). His 2009 prison crime drama A Prophet was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.


His 2015 film Dheepan earned him the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2018, he directed the western The Sisters Brothers, his first feature picture in English. The musical crime film Emilia Pérez, which he directed in 2024, received four Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Song. The film also won the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize and two Golden Globes for Best Musical or Comedy and Best Foreign Language Film.
