The American animated comedy multimedia franchise Family Guy was created and developed by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The franchise includes the animated series Family Guy (1999–present), its spin-off series The Cleveland Show (2009–2013), and the movie Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005), which was based on his thesis films Larry & Steve and The Life of Larry (1995–1997).
Most of the show's humor is found in metafictional cutaway gags that frequently parody American culture. It is set in the made-up towns of Quahog, Rhode Island, and Stoolbend, Virginia.
