The Big Bang Theory aired its first episode on 24th September 2007. The pilot episode was directed by James Burrows and written by Chuck Lorre & Bill Prady. The series kicked off by introducing our main characters Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper as two intelligent young physicists who have a combined IQ of 360 believing that they are the only ones capable of understanding how the universe works.

While these 2 are shown to be highly intellectual and smart, they are highly awkward in the social atmosphere, especially with women. The latter is proven after Sheldon and Leonard’s daily routine is disrupted when Penny, an outgoing aspiring actress, moves into the apartment across the hall. Leonard shows interest in her and is smitten by her. On the other hand, we see Sheldon struggling to comprehend Penny’s presence and her social behavior, leading to humorous interactions between them.
