Mel Medarda is originally from Noxus, a powerful and aggressive empire known for its military strength and expansionist mindset. In the world of League of Legends, Noxus is a place where strength and ambition are highly valued.

Mel is a powerful and ambitious councilor in Piltover, known for her intelligence, charm, and strategic mind. Unlike many other council members, Mel is more focused on power, influence, and politics than on scientific progress. She plays an important role in shaping Piltover’s future and often pushes others to make decisions that benefit her own goals.

However, Mel’s background is more complicated than just being from Noxus. She comes from a rich and influential family within the empire, but her approach to power is different from what her family expects. Throughout the show, it is revealed that Mel’s mother, Ambessa Medarda, is a powerful leader in Noxus who has a different philosophy from Mel. While her mother believes in using force and military power to achieve her goals, Mel prefers diplomacy and political influence. This difference in mindset creates tension between them, especially when Ambessa arrives in Piltover to meet her daughter.

Mel’s background from Noxus explains her ambitious nature and desire to achieve power through intelligence and strategy. Unlike her mother, Mel prefers to use her charm, persuasion, and political skills to get what she wants. Her past also helps viewers understand why she is ambitious and focused on her goals. Even though she has left Noxus, her experiences and family connections continue to shape her actions in Piltover.

I still wanted her to have a grace and sort of a soft quality to her and not make her a stereotypical hard woman. I really wanted to preserve her humanity and give her somewhere to go, so that line was sometimes a little complicated for me, but as Harry said, we were given a lot of freedom to play and try things and a lot of really good guidance.”
