Megan Griffin, better known as Meg, is a fictional character from the American animated television series Family Guy. On January 31, 1999, she made her debut in the pilot episode of the show, "Death Has a Shadow." She is voiced by Rachael MacFarlane (1998; original pilot, 2023; singing voice), Lacey Chabert (1999–2000) and Mila Kunis (1999–present).

Chris and Stewie's sister, Meg, is the only daughter and eldest child of Peter and Lois Griffin. Meg is frequently portrayed as an outsider who is severely mocked by her peers and family.

Meg Griffin’s character in Family Guy

Meg is a teenage girl who is insecure and self-conscious. She has many insecurities that drive her to attempt to fit in with the "in-crowd" and is subjected to unfair treatment and abuse from many people. But all this does is cause her to be rejected by the several bullies in this circle, especially Connie D'Amico, the head cheerleader at James Woods Regional High School, the local high school. But she attracts the attention of Neil Goldman, a Jewish nerd.

Meg's unpopularity and "ugliness" make her the target of Peter's jokes most of the time; he uses bizarre names on her. Although they usually do it behind Meg's back, Stewie and Brian tend to mock her openly. Lois continuously insults Meg while increasing her self-esteem. Although Lois's attitude is more careless or indifferent than Peter's more overt and open assault, she typically does little to nothing to help Meg when she is being mistreated by others.

Meg's appearance and attitude make her an extremely unpopular person in high school. She makes an honest attempt to blend in with the cool group, but she is usually met with chilly rejection. She was "unknowingly" recruited into a suicidal religious cult due to her need for approval, and she was subsequently accidentally recruited into the Lesbian Alliance at her school (as seen in the episode "Brian Sings and Swings").

Meg does, however, have a moderate number of friends, the most notable of whom are a group of girls who frequently hang out with her at events like her sleepovers and when she gossips about boys. Like Meg, these girls—who go by Beth, Patty, Collette, Esther, and Ruth—are described as being extremely unpopular and timeless in subsequent episodes.

Meg’s Family Life

Although the family loved her and had good intentions, Meg was portrayed in the first three seasons of the show as having a more irritable and formal attitude and was frequently embarrassed by their foolishness and clumsiness. This started to change in the seasons after the cancellation, as the unintentional humiliation turned into intentional bullying and disrespect.

Furthermore, the show began to develop the characters to the extent where it seemed that the majority of Quahogs who know her or even just encounter her make fun of or insult her for no other reason than that she is "Meg." Since Meg is usually submissive and well-behaved and never appears to act cruelly or carelessly, this essentially indicates that she is a victim of circumstance.

Meg is the least appreciated and misunderstood member of the family, despite the fact that she is the least annoying or self-centered. This is often shown by people avoiding her company, making fun of her in person, assembling in her bedroom to read her journal for amusement, etc. It appears that Meg is also subject to a double standard, which emphasizes the abuse she receives from those in her immediate vicinity. Even though Meg is well aware of the awful treatment she receives from others, she is typically far too weak and obedient to resist or take revenge on her family and school bullies.
