Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom that has aired since December 1989 and continues to air as of May 2025. The show has become an immense success, with a large reason being the catalogue of characters the show has introduced over the years - from the Simpsons family to Mr Burns, Barney Gumble, and hundreds of others. That includes young Uter Zoker, who has become a fan favourite because of his overly exaggerated traits and comic-relief appearances over the years.

Üter Zörker is a recurring character who appears on The Simpsons sitcom and is well known for providing comic relief whenever he appears in an episode. A foreign exchange student at Springfield Elementary, Zorker is known for his heavy German accent, overweight appearance, and his love as well as his obsession with candy. He is often shown with an enthusiastic but awkward personality and first appeared in season six after which he became designated comic-relief.

He is often the target of jokes and/or bullying as well as neglect, both by students and faculty. So much so that he was even left behind on the American Civil War field trip and then went missing after the class abandoned him while they were being chased by Civil War re-enactment actors at Fort Springfield. Furthermore, it is a recurring joke across the show that he is dead, although his death has never been confirmed either by the creators or canonically.

What happened to Uter from The Simpsons?

In the “Treehouse of Horror V” segment, Nightmare Cafeteria, Üter Zörker is killed and eaten by the school staff after they turn to cannibalism. It comes after Principal Skinner and the faculty begin cooking and eating other students due to overcrowding and budget cuts. Uter becomes one of the first victims after staying back for detention, and his death is played out only as dark comedy.

Thus, as a result, this story is a non-canonical Halloween story, and thus Zorker’s death has never been canonically confirmed either through the series or by the creators.
